I'm constantly framed as a stompy, angry girl, the staunch idealist
with the big mouth. That's definitely part of my MO - it's an aspect
of who I am - but everything else tends to be ignored. When people
listen to "Untouchable Face," for instance, they think the phrase
fuck you in the chorus is the ultimate kiss-off because they only
bring one frame of reference to the song. If they were really
listening, it would be obvious that fuck you means "I love you
desperately; how can you not love me back?" That meaning is clear,
but some have such a simplistic idea of language and who I am that
'fuck you' has only one meaning for them.
