LOL - There was a sale at Papa Murphy's for large pepperoni pizzas just $3.99 each this Tuesday, so I suddenly had need for freezer space. The free turkey Mom picked up just before the deadline in May suddenly began to defrost, and today, after work, I baked it.
I love turkey. I shook Lawry's Seafood & Poultry Rub (Thanks Aunt Peggy!) all over it in a Reynold's Oven Bag, and it's just fantastic. I carved it all this evening and traded Mom the entire right breast (about two pounds worth) for a ride to the store for the Safeway special on ground beef at $.99/lb.
The amazing thing is that I got the whole thing de-boned and bagged in the fridge, and the kitchen doesn't even look like I cooked anything major. Greg carried down a whole grocery bag full of bones and scraps, but even the bake pan rinsed out lickety-split and is now awaiting lasagna sometime next week.
I'm so glad I'm up to cooking these days. I've no idea what we'd do if poor Greg had to do it all. He's great at grilling, but meat and charcoal aren't cheap.
