Flash Blizzard

Dec 30, 2010 12:55

Well, yesterday was interesting, but this morning I got chewed a new one by one of my bosses for risking a little hike up their icy hill here.

Yesterday, a blizzard blasted through here, closing my freeway to work for an hour or so while they cleared the several inches of snow that fell within an hour, overwhelming their deicer.  Once it blew through, it was COLD but clear and mostly dry for the rest of the day.  Beautiful with the snow on the trees and sides of the roads, but little or no ice on the roads.

This morning everywhere was clear until I got to the bottom of my bosses' street, a private cul-de-sac on a steep hill up in the hills on the east side of the Seattle area.  I made it about half-way up before starting to spin out, so backed over to the side of the road, loaded up and hiked maybe 30 yards up to the office.  It wasn't slick until I got to the part where they'd applied deicer to their driveway, ironically enough.

:-P  I'll be getting a short ride down to my car this evening...  D has a... sharp tongue.  LOL  Don't want to risk another flaying with it!

snow, work
