Yay! I watched it yesterday. Did I do a geeky little squee-dance of joy as it started? Yes, yes I did.

I know a lot of people were kind of upset at the direction change of the show, but I found it interesting (wherever could they be drawing inspiration from?). The Cylons belief that they are "saving" humanity, Tye's belief that the ends justify the means, no matter how horrific, the role of collaboraters, some of whom went into it believing they were doing the right thing...this is good stuff to explore. I'm looking forward to the season.

I also giggled at the sight of Apollo. He needs to back off the Haagan-Daaz. Dualla must be so disappointed. The other scene that made me giggle (and it really shouldn't have) was the meeting between Boomer and Callie, 'cause you know, awkward.

As for Callum Keith Rennie and his Bunker Condo o' Love, I have no idea what his motivation is, but the thing with the kid occured to me too, so I've decided he's lying like a rug, that Casey is a ploy to get Starbuck to warm up to him. The "accident" was probably a part of that. The only thing bugging me is Casey's age. She's talking and toddling around, so she's at least two. They've been on New Caprica for a year and four months. It was what, six months? from the time when the Caprica survivors were rescued to when they settled. It was perhaps another six months between Starbuck finding them and then leading the rescue party (I acknowledge that my math may be totally off). Casey's been in existence, in one form or another, for almost three years, and I didn't think that much time had passed. It just seems off. Clearly, I need to get the DVDs so I can check.

I don't think Baltar's a Cylon. That would be too pat, and extremely disappointing. I like that they haven't explained just who or what Phantom!Six is. I also got the impression that this was the first time he'd seen her since CapricaSix showed up. I'd like to know if CapricaSix still has Phantom!Baltar as well, and if so, just what function he's serving.

Anywho, I enjoyed the episode, and I'm looking forward to see where this all goes. I'm going to go read Ron Moore's blog now, to see what he has to say.

Uuuuuuhh...that's way too much math for me, especially after stuffing my face with food this Thanksgiving weekend. Maybe the kid's big for her age? Dunno. Go ask Ronald Moore on his blog or something.

If Baltar turns out to be a Cylon it would be hugely disappointing and a bit of a cop out for the character, I agree. I'm just still not sure what to expect from this show: will they follow the more derivative form of storytelling or will they go the way of the crack. If this were a Trek show, I would say the former; if it were Farscape, the latter. The only reason why I would be expecting more of the former is that Ron Moore did write for Star Trek back in the day. Hopefully he's shaken himself loose from that. I wan't to see a human Baltar dealing with everything. Definitely so much more interesting. And I, too, would love to know if Caprica Six is still seeing Phantom!Baltar.

I think I figured out why I like Baltar and Six so much. Both characters, of all the characters on BSG, would easily fit into the Farscape universe. And I'm not saying that because of any similarities between the Scorpy neural clone and Phantom!Six. Baltar and Six together represent two important qualities that would serve them well as Farscape characters: insanity and sex. They are so completely fucked up. ::huggles them for it:: Seriously. I have no desire to read any BSG fanfic, BUT I would so totally read a BSG/Farscape crossover if it featured Baltar and Six as main characters along with the crazy crew on Moya. I would love that.
