Orphan Black

Orphan Black not only passes the Bechdel test, the male characters in the show mostly only talk about the female characters. Other shows that can lay claim to passing the Bechdel test wish they could do it as well and as often as Orphan Black does, IMO ( Read more... )

I'm ALREADY losing my mind!

I was not prepared for Sarah and Paul. I went into this show thinking there would be no shipping and then BAM I was pulled in. Doomed from the kitchen counter lol.

Head bump FTW! I needed to make icons to express my new found love for this show.

No. Paul must live. I can't handle another doomed ship. I just can't. I have battle scars from TC. Suffering from PTSD. It's been a rough year okay? LOL.

Yes! She is crazy good. I don't know how she does it. Actors are truly crazy people lol. I mean, I loved it when Trevino and Davis took on Klaus. To be one character and embody another...love it. But this actress takes it to a COMPLETELY different level. Just...wow.

Uuuuuggghhh! When Kira was hit I was like HOLY SHIT and then NOOOOO when I realized it was the end of the episode lol.

The hiatus is going to suck so bad.

Don't even sweat it. I'm glad you have been talking it up! I kept seeing promos for it on TV, and I was initially curious, but I have been losing so much interest in TV lately. So getting excited for something new has been hard.

I was super into Nikita, Supernatural, TVD and Southland last season. So far I have only watched every single episode of Southland this TV season (and now I'm sad that it didn't get a 6th season). I didn't even bother with Nikita, gave up on SPN three eps into this season and you know what happened with TVD.

I got hooked to Vikings (so mad about Ragnar and Lagertha - stupid shipping hits me again!), Elementary (Lucy Liu and Jonny Lee Miller are brilliant) and Hannibal (which is my favorite show right now). GOT is okay, I still love it, but I'm not as excited about it as I once was. Maybe if I had been exposed to the books first, I might be still super into it.

So yeah, finally giving into my curiosity about Orphan Black has been great. I fully enjoyed myself. So really, thank you. :)

I wanted to reply to this after I commented on your entry, but the work wifi was being a bitch as usual so I had to wait until I got home.

I was not prepared for Sarah and Paul.

Me neither!

Doomed from the kitchen counter lol.

It made a kind of sense when Sarah pounced on him to distract him from asking all those questions about how different she (Beth) seemed, but I was all WHAT WHOA SHE MOVES FAST THIS COUNTER SEX IS UNEXPECTED. LOL! The naked butts and chemistry that went through the roof made me all OKAY THEN I AM INVESTED IN YOU TWO AS A HOT SEXYTIMES COUPLE--until the head bump thing happened and turned me into a pile of mushy goo emotionally invested in them.

I have battle scars from TC. Suffering from PTSD. It's been a rough year okay? LOL.

Oh, I hear you. Thanks to TVD we're both suffering from irreparable shipping damage. I am already sacrificing goats (as is our keeping-characters-alive-and-on-the-show tradition) to keep Paul breathing and with us. Please, show, kill off Vic instead! Which reminds me. OMG, how awesomely hilarious was that scene when Vic sees Alison and thinks it's Sarah, and Alison freaks out and tazers then pepper sprays him? I laughed so freaking hard.

GOT is okay, I still love it, but I'm not as excited about it as I once was. Maybe if I had been exposed to the books first, I might be still super into it.

I'm not sure if reading the books first would have made a difference? I think what's happening with S3 is that there is SO MUCH STUFF to get through. The third book is massive and there are so many characters to deal with at this point. Also, a lot of that Meera and Jojen stuff with Bran happened in the second book but was never added to the second season. So what we end up getting is a few minutes per character per episode so it's difficult to get as caught up with their story lines as we did in seasons 1 and 2. It also makes it difficult for tension to build through each scene as the story is played out because there is just too much going on with limited air time for each character now.

I know there are budget constraints regardless of how well the show is doing, but I wish there had been a way to still make 10 episodes for season three but make each episode at least 90 minutes, if not two hours long. Then each character could have had ample time on the screen per episode for their story to better unfold and really capture our attention and have us really disappear into this world for 90-120 minutes.

Although, every scene with Tywin Lannister is perfection because Charles Dance is perfection and he should be in everything basically.

Awwww, you're very welcome. I'm so glad you're enjoying it. :D

And I think I forgot to thank you in my reply to your post for making those Orphan Black icons. I love them! I'm going to download them and add them to my LJ now that I'm on my laptop. Woooooo!
