The Beast: Is it ever going to be over?

OMG I just passed the 30,000 word mark on The Beast. I am EXHAUSTED. And I'm still not finished!

I'm taking a proper break now. I really need to clear my brain for a few hours. Maybe go for a walk. I also need to go on a booze run.

And then there's Haven to look forward to later tonight. I've really fallen in love with that little show.

Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!! I think my brain is now fried. I tried to tackle THE sex scene but it's not working out. I should clarify that up until now I've only written the flirty, teasing, suggestive, innuendo, UST-laden scenes--which I think I've managed to make sexy. This has all been leading up to The Big Moment which so far has been a complete failure. It's not hot or sexy at all. It's stilted and technical and just bad. It's like I'm giving them directions and they're just doing it to follow orders, not because they're into it...and that last bit makes me sound like a crazy person, doesn't it? *sigh* I think, I HOPE, it's just because I've spent all day and night writing and need to rest. I do know one thing, though. I think at some point I have to decide how graphic the writing for that scene is going to be. Once I settle on that, the rest might come more easily--and sexily.

Maybe I should also watch that vid of Caroline about-to-straddle Tyler a few more times...

(After 3x01 airs there had better be a fuckton of Caroline-straddles-Tyler icons or SO HELP ME GOD!)

Aww lol. I avoided writing any smut in the few fics I wrote and with the encouragement from a friend decided to write smutty one shot and I was so nervous about the while thing I made myself sick lol. It's difficult to write these kind of scenes without coming off too technical like you said, or too light, too smutty or just off all together. Use what you have as a guideline. Let it sit for a bit and then try taking another go at it when you mind is clear.

Straddle. Just love that word. As soon as I saw that clip it was the first word that popped into my mind to tweet you and Cherie lol.

Oh there must be and there will be. By God it will be my tumblr icon for sure lol.

I think I've had a breakthrough. THANK GOD. I figured out that a scene I'd written at the start of this endeavour, was the problem. While plausible to an extent, the dynamic this scene sets up between Tyler and Caroline (as a prelude to the sex scene) just doesn't work after all. Because of it, I found myself forcing Tyler and Caroline into sexytimes that were in accordance to that scene, which made for awkward writing and awkward sex. So once I scrap/rewrite that scene, everything else should work out and end up being sexy. ...I hope.

Mmm...straddle.
