*collapses in a mentally and emotionally exhausted heap*
I've just completed the first two-thirds of the first draft. The final third is next and is mostly written. I think. I hope. I just need to add some missing scenes, expand existing ones, and then bring it all together and pray it makes sense.
I can't tell if it's any good. There are some parts that I really like and enjoy reading over and over again. But there are other parts in which I think it's obvious my heart wasn't really in it. They are only there to act as connective tissue, so to speak, in order for the other scenes to work. I'll have to revisit them when editing the first draft and see if I can do anything about making those scenes better.
Surprisingly enough, one of the two Matt/Caroline scenes I had to write last night turned out quite well. I actually enjoyed writing it and it ended up being quite sweet. I was rather shocked by my reaction, to put it mildly. (No, this does not make me a Matt/Caroline shipper. BELIEVE ME. It'll always be Tyler/Caroline for me.)
Must soldier on and finish this damned thing.
