This Tumblr, I do not understand it.
I was going to sign up for a Tumblr account but I am now so confused.
Is it a place to blog? I've heard that it is, and yet, I see no blog entries. At least, nothing that I can identify as blog entries a la LiveJournal, Blogspot, WordPress, etc.
Is it a place to post photos, gifs, and other graphic work? Because that's all I've found when I check out the Tumblrs belonging to txgirl0302, cheriebee27, and cleolinda.
I see there's an "ask me" thing there which looks like it's a way to have a conversation with a fellow Tumblrer (Tumblrite? Tumblrian? Tumblrese?) so there is that, I guess.
Am I looking in the wrong place on these Tumblr accounts and just haven't found the text entries? Or are we moving away from text-filled blogs to more image-filled blogs? I had been hoping to find a yet unplumbed source for fanfic, but all I can find are graphics. They're very nice graphics--especially all the Tyler/Caroline ones--but I want text-y content mostly. Is it just a fluke that the Tumblr accounts I've looked at all deal with graphics? If I keep trying, will I eventually find accounts that are mostly text vs. mostly graphics? Is it that the mostly text Tumblrs are few and far between so it's harder to find them?
OR, have I finally hit the age wall and am too old to understand Tumblr? Like, was Twitter the last cool and hip thing I understood and now any new internet stuff will have me waving my cane and yelling "kids today!" and "back in my day!" and "get off my lawn!" at my laptop screen for the rest of my online life?
