Did you ever watch the cartoon
Duck Tales as a child? (Or, last week, if you comb through the youtube archives?) The
opening sequence had Scrooge McDuck in a bathing suit, swimming in his gold vault. Keep that image in your head, and add to it any generic image of a person (or duck) scooping up bills and throwing them over their head, or picking up treasure and letting it run through their fingers. Got all that?
That's how I picture the book order I made for school last year (not literally, of course). The books are sitting, right now, at school waiting for me to dive into them, run them through my fingers and throw them in the air, yelling with joy! Okay, so I've gotten a little carried away, but these images kept recurring to me, and I had to examine them to try to figure it all out. Here's what I came up with: even though the books aren't mine, per se, and even though I won't crack the cover of more than half of them*, I equate them with wealth, with my wealth, somehow.
Suffice to say, I am excited to get my hands on them tomorrow! Pollan, Bleach vol. 1 through something-er-other, papermaking, Fancy Nancy, Book Crush, Bolivia titles for all ages and everything else! Gosh, I really do love books! (And AV, we've got some of that coming, too.)
It almost makes up for having to go to work tomorrow. :-) Okay, it totally makes up for that, but not quite for having to work all year!
*I mean, really, I doubt I'll get around to reading Football for Fun, or Henry and Mudge Puddle Trouble.
