Higher Education? Meh, I'm still down with racism
i had such a fucked up day at school. we had a discussion on racial profiling in a terrorism context today. i got into it with several fellow students. they were arguing it's all justifiable, for a number of reasons that were generally nonsense.
At the end of it, I asked one of those guys if he believed that certain races were responsible for certain crimes. He said, "Yes, I do." I asked him to break it down for me, as to which races were responsible for what, but the professor stopped me before we had a race riot.
I don't know if that seems very dramatic or whatnot, but it's profoundly revealing. and frankly shocking. It was all I needed to win the argument, but shit...as if he said that. A genetic predisposition. certain races are responsible for certain kinds of crime.
I was speaking with the prof afterwards (a guest lecturer, the poor bastard) and he was in utter disbelief at the one guy and asked if the other was a fascist. I'm still in shock.
And then later on, in a whole new world, some guy asked Nicole if she was Belinda Stronach.
Life is grand.
