I just got done watching the new episode of Top Gear (it's not piracy when it won't air here for like 18 months, right?) wherein Clarkson, May, and Hammond hoon a new 'Vette ZR1, Caddy CTS-V, and Challenger SRT-8 respectively from San Francisco to Bonneville.
Now the ZR1 is probably one of the most epic cars ever made, the CTS-V is the most epic sport sedan ever made, and the Challenger... well. It's not the fastest of them. It's not the most luxurious of them. It doesn't even have the right transmission in it. But it's the one I want. It's big, it's loud, it's obnoxious, and it so wonderfully epitomizes what a modern muscle car should be. Somehow, I always side with Hammond on these things...
Speaking of big, loud, and obnoxious, after getting him and the family moved in yesterday, Vince spent approximately 3 hours trying to get me to buy his 12 second 1/4mi '94 Camaro Z28. So. Yeah. I need to sell a kidney to come up with the $4800 he wants for the car, because it's a fucking steal at that price. I better start growing out my mullet and purchase some gold chains.
Also, the move went quite well. He truly is out in BFE but the house is beautiful and inexpensive (yanno, by Southern California standards) and the drive out there is absolutely brilliant. And even in the new house, with the Porcubimmer gone out of the garage (but a nice 16x20 print of it I gave him as a housewarming present hanging on the wall in its stead) it felt right to be sitting in the garage drinking beer and bullshitting about cars, life, and everything else.
The rest of today was spent doing, well, pretty much nothing. I watched the race from Phoenix and have come to the conclusion that Jimmie Johnson and Chad Knaus are not human. I ate some pho for dinner. I have had two bowel movements today. Sorry, I sometimes get a little TOO detailed about my personal life online. Anyway, it was nice to help out a friend and hang out yesterday, and equally nice to do absolutely nothing today.
All in all, not a bad weekend.
