N.B. Hereabouts begins crunch year for Unca AJ -- Nightmare Village is running late, and right behind it is the new two-projects-at-once schedule. Owtch. I'll be staying on LJ, but prolly doing a lot more reading (and occasional comments) than writing, at least compared to what you've had to wade through (or, okay, scroll past) of late

Fair point, and I don't know how Phil would answer it. I do think the piece intends to question the model of new year's resolutions itself, as distinct from less sporadic (and easily ditchable) methods for life improvement; beyond which there's the writerly precision thing (it does give five reasons they tend to fail, while only beginning to suggest ways to avoid such failure).
Frankly I like the directions/goals/habits model of planning and Tom Vizzini's 3dmind tech for making the changes.
Cool! I'm one of those "mind-is-the-great-enemy" types myself, tending to sidestep the methods which strike me as Ruach-y (NLP, etc.), but lots of folks have found them plenty helpful, & I'm happy to pass such references along. Last I looked Phil's sites had a number of such available.
Oh, and finally (come to think of it), I'm not sure anything extant is as positively framed as Phil's "Megalomaniac Workshop." ;) A wonderfully entertaining guy in person or on tape -- and a genuinely fine human being as well. :)
Thanks for the input, sir! May all that you resolve (any ol' time) be accomplished! :D
