While my poor little Nissan has been on its last wheel for quite some time, I really didn't relish the thought of dealing with buying a new car. My future hubby finally decided it was finally time so he did all the research about what cars get the best gas mileage and are somewhere in our price range - he narrowed it down to 6.
Kia Rio or Sephia
Chevrolet Cobal
Ford Focus
Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic
Next, he called our insurance agent and asked what a new car would do to our insurance - that narrowed it down to 3
Either Kia or the Chevrolet Cobalt.
The next step is to make the trip to the car dealership (I swear I've never seen anything like this before in my life, and I almost hope I never have to witness it ever again). What's priced on the internet at $15,000-16,000 they want to sell it to us for nearly $20,000. That was the first good laugh of the night...then Chris went into 'let's play games with the car salesmen' mode.
We finally drove off the lot (at like 9:30 pm) with a 2009 Silver Moss Metalic Chevrolet Cobalt Sedan - not blue. Not the damn color that Chris argued with them about for nearly an hour and a half! It was pathetic. We did get the price reduced substantially (even below what we saw them for on the internet), and even cruise control thrown in, but next time I have to purchase a car, I hope I can afford to send someone in my place. The hassle almost takes the joy out of having a new toy.
Thank god that's over...
