I expected the moment the Red Sox made the final out of the season to be so much more. I thought it was going to be one of those "Where were you when this happened?" moments. A celebration that I would never forget. I thought it was going to be something I could talk to people about forever, even my grandchildren. But the final out (actually the ( Read more... )

Walk off grand-slam in the top of the 20th? Anti-climactic? Not enough drama? Am I the only one who remembers what happened in the ALCS? Sweeping the Cardinals WAS the ideal way to break the curse...because it was merely an after thought to the real breaking of the curse, and that was against the Yankees. Just think about what happened. The Red Sox were down 3-0, after getting slaughtered in game three 19-8 against a team that they have NEVER been able to overcome. But they came back and won four in a row, something else that has NEVER been done in the history of baseball and was basically unthinkable. If that wasn't enough...two of those games went into extra innings, there were two highly controversial calls in game 6 (that went the Red Sox way even though according to all laws of the curse they shouldn't have) and the Sox took game 7 at Yankees Stadium. After accopmlishing something like that it was only right that the Red Sox cruised to the goal along their path of destiny by sweeping the Cardinals. There is nothing that could have possibly happened in the World Series that would have been more fitting or more dramatic than the ALCS, unless perhaps under some new rule the Yankees overturned the outcome of the ALCS and re-appeared as the Red Sox foe. Because let's face it....they were playing the Cardinals. There's no need to defeat David when you have already beaten Goliath. All that's left to do now is hope for more great baseball and to thank God for not letting the Cardinals ruin a perfect ending to an 86 year curse.

Fine, the ALCS was one of the greatest series of all time. There is no question about it. But really I want to see a world series that is for real. You can not be a real baseball fan and say that you enjoyed the world series the way it was. Also, seven game series in the championship series were established in 1985. I know that the world series was still 7 games, but I bet if there were 7 games series since the conception of the major leagues there would have been at least a couple more teams who came back. This isn't basketball, where if one team wins 3 games straight they are clearly better. This is baseball, anything can happen.
