Thoughts on handwashing: How am I doing?
Well, I don't think it's going too badly. No stink, Flipper's behind is pristine and happy, and handwashing continues to be something of a team sport. A couple of my fingertips are showing signs of extra abuse and are rather tender, but wringing out towels doesn't seem to be causing all that much distress. I didn't manage to wash as I went during my rather busy day today, and sadly tomorrow doesn't look much better. But we are keeping up!
I did have to wash and re-lanolinize one of my wool covers today. Passerby were amazed by the unusually large amounts of poo! (Not really. That's a shout-out to the Onion.) Why is it, though, that he has gone from occasional tiny poops and a big one or two every two to three days to two or three big exciting poops a day? Ack. Also, washing my friend's daughter JuJuBee's diapers today meant I got my hand in washing diapers with solids, even if it was a fairly minuscule amount. It was fine. No sweat.
This challenge led to the coolest moment today. I wish I had a photo. Imagine, if you will, this scene: Two ladies, two babies and a little girl, scattered around a tea tray, sitting on the grass under umbrellas and sipping from teacups, while the third lady hangs diapers on a clothesline... in the rain. Yep. It was awesome. I mean, the diapers were already wet; it's not like they were going to get wetter!
