SLATING: hold a piece of paper, give your name, the role you're in for, and your agency.
MY SLATE: Briana Ledford. Uhm. Uhhh. Uhm. Heh. I am Person Number One-- or Two? Uhhh. Er. Heheh. Hm. Ah. Ah. Actorzinagshun. Yeah. Thassaone. Hm.
SLATING IS ESTABLISHING ITSELF AS MY PERSONAL FUCKING NEMESIS. How does a person fail at reciting basic information? Can't I just forget a line, or step a bit out of frame, or something? Y'know, something that could happen to anyone? Something that doesn't make me appear for all intents and purposes to be a madly grinning halfwit who has wandered into the room by mistake? I know what I'm called in for. I know my agency. I know how to make a series of vocalizations that will signify to another English language-speaking person my designated role and agency. Where do said knowledge and ability go when called upon?
At least I have yet to blank out on my name. It's... ah... um... er... it starts with a--?
