Things accomplished by the hubby and me this weekend:
- Guest room improvements, in preparation for brother's arrival
- Primed guest room walls
- Learned how to hang wallpaper
- Wallpapered a large room with dormers - it looks awesome, if we do say so ourselves
- Downstairs bathroom renovations
- Grouted new tile on bathroom floor (that was actually the carpenter, not us, but we watched...)
- Purchased new bathroom fixtures (toilet, sink, vanity, mirror, shelf, etc.)
- Household schtuff
- Did lots of laundry
- Washed lots of dishes
- Vacuumed most of the rugs
- Mowed the lawn (that was all Patrick)
- Fun schtuff
- Went out for celebratory "thank God I'm done with my exams" dinner
- Watched "Mystery Men" - still cracks me up
- Played WoW and Civ IV, respectively
Things not accomplished that would have been nice:
- Attend demolition derby, followed by fireworks, on Sunday night (sigh. we really wanted to go, but by then, wallpaper had taken over our lives and sucked out our souls)
- Lots of relaxation flopped in front of TV, computer, Nature, etc. - we didn't get much of that, but the house looks GREAT!
We just celebrated our first year in our wonderful old house, and it's amazing to me how much we've gotten done in that short span of time:
- Asbestos removal
- Had the roof painted
- Had a new fence installed to separate our back yard from the crazy neighbors and the enormous trucks that used to come down their driveway and turn around in our yard
- Lots and lots of yard work cleaning up the areas around the house
- Installed shelves in the basement
- Painted the dining room walls
- Re-caulked the bathtub in the upstairs bathroom
- Gut-renovated the master bedroom
- Renovated the walls in the guest room
- Renovated the downstairs bathroom (almost done...)
- Lots of other little things
Crazy, eh? It's so cool to make the space clean and bright and OURS. Having a home is a lot of work, but it's also incredibly rewarding.
