Held the second session of the Star Wars game almost 2 weeks ago, just now getting around to putting up a summary.
Firstly, Jacen wasn't able to make it to the session, so his bounty hunter was played by Mike in addition to Mike's smuggler.
So, our PCs, consisting of Mattias Wolfe the smuggler, Edward the bounty hunter, and "J'yrl" (not her real name) the amnesiac Mrlissi Jedi, had just arrived on the planet of Garfo, and discovered that King Elbon had just died, which is a problem, since they'd traveled here to give J'yrl a place to lie low from the Icbint Empire's Force Knights, and more importantly Edward and Mattias were promised 5000 credits each! So, lacking any leads, they did what any group of adventurers would do: go to a local bar and troll for rumors.
Mattias rolled a complication on his "Find a Bar" roll, so they ended up in the worst bar in the city. And further complicating things, his persuasion attempts to try to get local rumors out of the bartender ended up coming out as an insult by local customs. Thankfully, Edward steps in and is able to calm things down with his rough underworld charm. They don't get much useful information out of the bartender, though, mostly that there's dozens of rumors flying around about King Elbon's untimely demise, all involving some sort of foul play. Mattias decides that they need to go see the site of the King's death, so they travel to the palace.
At the palace, they don't get very far trying to talk to the Buckingham Palace-style guards, although eventually a passing Lieutenant of the Royal Guard speaks with them. Lieutenant Rovin is not thrilled to find outworlders poking into the business of the Guard, so he decides to distract them by sending them to investigate the "court mystic", a Zabrak named Zang Lih. The characters (and players, for that matter) don't realize he's sending them on a wild goose chase.
Once they reach Zang Lih's compound, however, he's only willing to let the Jedi in. So J'yrl is escorted through Zang's gardens by a droid, while the others go to yet another bar. Inside Zang's inner sanctum, he lectures J'yrl about how they share the same gift, and that the Jedi Master Obi-Kaybe rescued her from one form of slavery only to trick her into another. She doesn't believe him, to which he tells here that "you can't see the truth on this planet with your eyes. Reach out with your gift..." J'yrl attempts to use her Force abilities to sense... whatever it is that Zang is talking about, but her concentration wanders to her companions: she suddenly realizes they're in danger!
Meanwhile, at the bar, Edward and Mattias are approached by a stranger who tells them that if they want to learn some facts about the king's death that they won't hear by asking just any person on this planet, that they should meet him behind the bar in 15 minutes. They do so, and not only is the guy not there, but they have two muggers confront them. Yep, It's A Trap. And the smuggler and bounty hunter only have a single blaster pistol between the two of them, thanks to their heavier weapons not being permitted on Garfo. With clever use of cover (and handing the one blaster to the guy with maxed-out starting Blaster skill), the two quickly dispatch one of the thugs. The second, after seeing his partner drop, decides to run, but discovers that J'yrl has arrived and is blocking the only way out of the alley with her lightsaber! Then things get Weird.
The remaining thug realizes that this would be a good time to surrender, and moves to drop his weapon... but before he can, a mysterious force seizes his arm, and moves the weapon to his head as he shouts "No no no NO!" And then one final shot is fired from the mugger's holdout blaster, killing him. However, this disturbing turn of events does not dissuade Mattias and Edward from engaging in the time-honored tradition of looting the bodies ("How many credits do they have on them?" "One has 25, the other 20." "Great, that covers our bar tab."). They are also more convinced than ever that Zang Lih is up to no good, and is involved in the death of the king... so they decide to go talk to the customs official they met when they first arrived on the planet for some reason.
The customs official isn't impressed by their "conspiracy theories," but is still willing to answer questions. They learn that the ambassador from the Icbint Empire left the planet 3 days before the king died, and the Empire has been taking a lot of interest in an archaeological site in the Munrun Mountains outside the city. They decide that the dig site is worth taking a look at, and rent a landspeeder to go there. But first, Mattias decides that they need more security for their ship (since they have a valuable Jedi artifact aboard), and so attempts to bribe the port authority... and fails miserably (seriously, Mike rolled something like a 4 on 3d6. It was a lot of fun staring at the dice, then at him, and saying, "Get out of my office before I have you arrested.").
At the dig site, they are surprised to NOT find any Imperials there, just students from the Royal University. They talk a bit, are advised to not enter the ruins themselves for safety reasons, and are allowed to investigate the camp site. They find a flimsiplast letter from the Imperial Embassy requesting that several artifacts be sent to the Imperial University's Department of Paranormal Research, and a message on a datapad rejecting the request. Deciding this is a smoking gun, the party comes to the conclusion that the Royal Guard need to hear about this.
They return to the plaza in front of the palace and track down Lieutenant Rovin again. They present their evidence to him, and he protests that nothing they've found proves any connection to the king's murder... oops! They've managed to get Rovin to slip up and confirm that King Elbon was in fact assassinated, but Rovin begins wondering just why a group of outworlders are so interested in the king's death. Mattias explains that he and Edward were hired by "a man" to bring J'yrl to Garfo and King Elbon. This answer doesn't impress Rovin, so he asks if "this man" has a name. J'yrl reluctantly admits that they were sent by Obi-Kaybe.
"Obi-Kaybe?! Why didn't you say so before?!" And within an (in-game) hour, the party has an audience with the Crown Prince Roni. The prince tells them that, although his family does owe a debt to Obi-Kaybe, that the Empire's interest in Garfo makes it too dangerous for him to harbor J'yrl there... but he does know how to get her in contact with a resistance group against the Icbint who are sure to have some sort of bolt-hole to hide her in. He gives them coordinates to a hidden shadowport in the Vergun asteroid belt, and also asks them to keep their ears open for any news of his sister Maca, last seen on a diplomatic mission to the Hutt Dominion. Oh, and he pays Edward and Mattias their 5000 credits apiece ("Does J'yrl get any?" "Would you like to make a Con roll to trick him into giving her one?" "No!").
So, the session ends as the party reaches the Vergun Shadowport. Mattias decides to upgrade the Running Wolf with more and bigger guns, and experience points are given out. Overall, this session went much better than the last one, with things generally going in directions I could easily work with. Now I gotta finish making my plans for the session tomorrow...
