In the interest of consolidating blogs, I'm posting entries from my first China trip here. Nothing new unless you missed it the first time.
I've never taken a flight over about 7 hours or so... Usually after about 5, I start pacing up and down the aisles and gritting my teeth. Combine this with my fear of starving (The airline didn't have enough advance notice for a "special meal," and the person I talked to had no idea what a gluten-free meal was, airline website be damned) and I'm a bit nervous about the trip. At least, the "getting there" part. So I'm packing up as many munchies as possible. And my fuzzy socks. And earplugs. And one of far too many splurge purchases: a travel towel. It doesn't take up much space, it's absorbent, and I figure it'll help if I can wash up & dry off with a real towel, even in the airport or on the plane. Small comforts.

Another travel fear: it may actually be more dangerous to get to the airport than to fly on the plane. See news reports for the details (and insert Big Dig rant here) but the connecter tunnel between the Masspike and the Ted Williams tunnel is closed. Indefinitely. So we'll be taking surface roads to the Callahan first thing in the morning. Whee!
[Post script: my Favorite Yellow Cab navigated the mess and brought me directly to the airport. My Sweetie rocks!]
