Back from the top of the planet

Man, Castine, Maine is really all the way up there. Granted we got lost on the way up there (I have no idea how 95 all of a sudden turned into 128), but it's still a good 5 hour drive. While on the subject of Maine, let's talk about how the trip went:

The trip was actually a lot better than I thought it would be. I know some of the sailing people and the ones I met up there were pretty cool. Friday was a pretty awful day for me all around, but Saturday and Sunday I lightened up and was able to enjoy hanging out with everyone. It was relaxing to go out on the floating dock and watch sailing and hang out...very chill, it was great. I took a nap out there too and even got homework done one day, so except for Friday, the trip was actually fun. Better than what I expected.

So, yeah, Friday. Donner had come up the night before and was still there for most of the afternoon (completely took me by surprise in light of everything I was told, and therefore expected, prior to him coming), so that had me ticked off before we even left and it just went downhill from there. Driving there I, not very proud of it, but definitely proved why my nickname is "Crazy Taxi." I can't even count how many errors I made. I was arguing with Talia on the phone at one point :( and I was paying more attention to the conversation than the road and nearly hit the car in front of me. I hung up with her for a while and paid more attention to the road, but then called her back and nearly hit 90 mph as I was again paying more attention to the conversation than the road. The conversation never really ended, at least not smoothly, so I have no idea there. As if I wasn't done yet convincing everyone in the car to want to jump ship, I hit one of those reflector construction barrels, nearly drove into a ditch on the way into the motel, and I'm sure other things that Heather will remember better than I will. Not a good weekend of driving on my part at all. :/

At one point, Heather had friends from Maine Maritime Academy come up and man, I was not feeling them at all. They were just such assholes, especially this one kid, Josh (they could tell I was really ticked off...Josh thought I wanted to rip out his Adam's apple...it was pretty funny, actually). I just don't like situations where assholes are involved; I get really ticked off. So, those guys on top of everything else that had happened that day (I'm still a little bothered that I'm arguing with my best friend, and Friday night it was a huge thing on my mind and that combined with my driving) it just wasn't a good situation.

I definitely thought I'd be extremely tired after the ride and would conk right out, but it, very unfortunately, didn't happen that way. I couldn't fall asleep for a really long time.....which made it very easy to hear the hooking up going on in the next bed. It was not fun times; it actually really sketched me out because I really don't want nor need to hear that at all.

But, the rest of the weekend was pretty cool, so I'm glad Heather invited me to go up there. And a hats off to Moby Jr., who made the trip without any problems, despite my skepticism....never gonna doubt you again, Moby Jr. ;) It's great to be back in Boston though. I'm going golfing tomorrow with Kevin and Kyle, so I'm really looking forward to that. I should probably get some work done while I have the apartment to myself. Have a good one. :)
