Ok, so only one of the three (free) concerts I went to was full of dirty hippies. Thursday we were supposed to go see Aqualung, but they cancelled and Robert Randolph and the Family Band played instead. They were fun and rocked the casbah. I rocked hard with way too many Smirnoff Raz's. They taste like Kool-Aid. Yum.
Friday we went to the Public Market to check out The Jerry Garcia Band. That's where the hippies took over. Hippies aside, it was fun to rock out. I bought sunglasses for $7, and looked at lots of pretty shiny things. Pretty shiny things and cheap sunglasses are awesome and make for a good night.
Saturday we played golf and then decided to check out the Hilton Firemans Carnival. People watching ... wow ... that's all I have to say. You know you're in the sticks when people bring their own can koozies to the beer tent at a carnival. Yeah. But the clams were good. Yay for steamed clams.
T didn't believe me when I told him about how I always won at ring toss / ball toss games at carnivals. He's seen the giant stuffed dog in the basement, and all the fake smiley flowers I have around the house, but he still didn't believe. I paid my $1 and got my 8 balls. Not even looking, I threw the first ball. It was a winner. So now we have a new member of the pet family. A goldfish named Clark W. Griswald. He has a happy little home on top of the tv, away from prying kitten and puppy claws. T is way excited about it because he's never had a pet, he's too freakin' funny.
Sunday we slept in for a long long time, like 1 pm or so. A quick trip to PetSmart for monster food and goldfish supplies and then we were off to Buffalo again for another concert. This time it was to see Gov't Mule. Again, tons of fun, tons of families with kids and older people. I didn't really like them all that much the first few times I saw them play (a few years back), but they've started to grow on me. They played two full sets, including a few Led Zepplin covers, so that made me a happy girl. The first set we were only about 20 feet from the stage which was pretty cool. The second set we chilled back by the sound tent, which was also closer to the beer tent and bathrooms. They finished up around 11 pm or so and we headed home. Midnight, bedtime, and then work this morning.
New glasses and contacts for my eyeballs today. Yay fun. Then new hair tomorrow. And then this weekend it's off to Maryland to see Widespread Panic again. Ooooh,
email_christen what are you up to this weekend?? We got lawn tickets for like $25. Any interest??
