Last night, Jeff Amy and I went to go see NIN in Toronto. Queens of the Stoneage and some other band that we didn't see opened. It was a combination of "holy hell, that's totally rad" and "what the fuck were they thinking with that?". Most of the latter was stuff they played from The Fragile. They did some neat stuff with screens / projections. We were sitting to the side of the stage, 18 rows up. So very close. It was awesome. I was totally rocking out, trying to dance with my boot. Quite amusing to watch I'm sure. The alarm came way too early this morning, as we got home ~2:30 and I had to be at the Dr's at 8 am.
They did another round of x-rays. Said, "nope it isn't broken, but hey ... seems like you may have some tendon damage". Which is what I had been telling the first Ortho the entire time. My doc, the awesome one who did my surgery, can't treat it because it's too far up on my leg (he's a podiatrist something or other), so he referred me to another ortho and managed to get me an appointment for late this morning. This doc looked at it and said, "yup, not broken .... but hey, your symptoms would suggest achilles tendon damage. Let's get you in for an MRI ASAP". So this evening after work I went in for an MRI. Let me tell you, an MRI on an appendage that has a metal pin in it ... not fun. It felt like someone was trying to drill a hole in my heel the entire time. But whatever, if it helps them to diagnose this, I'll deal with the pain. Tuesday morning I have a follow up with ortho #2 to find out what the problem really is. I'm so glad I decided to go for a second opinion. My foot shouldn't be this swollen and in this much pain after 3 weeks.
After the MRI, I went out to Acme with the crew for Pat's last night out. Had a drink, 5 wings and headed over to Jeff's house where the drinks were cheaper and the dogs could play. Had some car bombs and got Loki to drink, a first!! He was also fetching all the cups and hiding them under the dining room table which was way too funny. Pat's the first of my original Rochester friends to fly the coop. Chip doesn't count, because I didn't know him until my second or third year here :D Tomorrow morning at 6 am, he's headed off to Boston to work for the Ivy. Good luck P-Ha. We'll certainly miss you around here!! It's bedtime for me. My original plan for tonight was to come home and immediately go to bed. But here it is at 1:30 am and I'm still awake. I was at work until 7:30, so I suppose 6 hours later isn't too bad. It's about on par with a normal day. And yes, sleep is a good good thing. Night all and safe travels Pat!!
