Sporadic Updates...

So I haven't updated in a while. And updating helps me to avoid doing homework. So it is a win-win situation. This year has been off to an interesting start. My hall is a nice mix of freshmen, sophomores and juniors but everyone gets along so it works. Remember how I used to complain about the food here? Well they are trying to improve. There are a few decent places to eat on campus now, which is good. Other than that not much else is new. Had my birthday (thanks for the happy birthday wishes). Upgraded my computer (dual core) and I've been going out a bit more this year, which has been quite fun.

Schoolwork has really ramped up this year. I'm doing the core classes for both my majors (as is everyone else) so I pretty much have projects and tests all the time. I actually like it a lot more now, since I feel that I am learning applicable skills. For the Policy and Management major I get to take Policy Analysis and Technology Entrepreneurship (where we work with a real start up company with non disclosure agreements and whatnot). For Information Systems I get to take Fundamentals of System Development and Application Design and Development. Between those two classes we have to analyze, outline, design, plan and build information systems (websites, hardware, etc). Lots of writing (use case diagrams, executive summary, etc) and coding. And next semester we do it for a company. My other classes are boring but that's fine. Work is good too since I am only working one job this year so I only work around 12 hours/week.

I love this time of year for deals. New Christmas toys, Black Friday (shopping), McDonald's Monopoly game. I'm kicking myself for not pre-ordering the new TMX Elmo doll. It retails at $40 and was going on ebay for about $200 on the first day. Now it is around $60 on Ebay. Oh well. Also I plan on getting a Nintendo Wii for myself and maybe a PS3 to sell (only 400,000 at launch in the US so it is doubtful). And of course there is the McDonald's Monopoly game. That gets a separate post.

Oh yeah, and if you haven't seen Weird Al's new music video White and Nerdy you should watch it. It's really funny (and actually all the things are legit nerd activities). His whole new album "Straight out of Lynwood" is pretty good. The best songs are "White and Nerdy", "Confessions Part III", "Trapped in the Drive Thru" and "Polkarama".

A funny picture someone put next to the urinal in the guy's bathroom.
It was originally from an AlcoholEdu Poster (alcohol education thing freshmen have to do)
