So I know I haven't actually updated this thing in (literally) AGES, but we just got back from this amaaaazing trip to Quebec that my wonderful wonderful man took me on.
It's interesting...I've been through ups and downs these past few months, well, this entire year. I went from $60k job to being laid off due to a lawsuit with the company and the city of Syracuse. After a judge finally ruled in Destiny's favor, we are now just waiting for the major (and the city) to come to an official agreement so that the city does not appeal the decision. Then, HOPEFULLY, we will all be able to go back to work.
Besides all of that madness..there have been physical ailments and other such things. I have been back to work and now I am facing unemployment again, until this Destiny project starts back up or until I find another job in the meantime.
So, more on the Quebec trip. My wonderful man took me to Mont Tremblant last Thur-Sun. For all of you out there that have never heard of it, it is this jaw-dropping, gorrrgeous ski resort/village NW of Montreal. It is set in the mountains there with this adorable little European-inspired village at the base of the mountain. There are wonderful French restaurants, cafes, patisseries, chocolateries, shops, bars, clubs (including an ICE club), and some wonderful hotels. Our hotel, Les Tour des Voyageurs (I think I got that right, right Nathan? hehe), was really nice. It had an awwwesome outdoor jacuzzi, just below our balcony actually. The room was really cute with this quaint little kitchenette. We also had a really nice view of the front part of the village. This place is so cool that people are seen skiing right past your hotel! That was verrry verry cool!!! I'll have to post pics when I get home maybe.
There is a lift, called the Cabriolet, right outside our hotel and it takes you right up to the base of the mountain. We took it to get to the rental shop on our first full day there. We get to the shop hoping for reeally badass equipment. Turns out, to our utter astonishment and gleeee, that all of their rental boards (and equipment) are BURTON! Wooot! So we're already completely in awe.
We take the big alpine lift to the top of the mountain, which is one of those enclosed lifts where you store your skis in a little outside compartment. It was a very lovely ride up the mountain. It was sooooooooooooo high though, omg!!!! We have breakfast in the restaurant at the top. It is deliiiicious! Crepes!!! He gets a fruit crepe and I get this mouth-watering spinach and swiss and egg one with a bechamel sauce on the side. Droooooooooooooooooooool.
After breakfast we put our gear on and head for the edge of the mountain haha. At this point, I am absolutely terrified! No joke! It is at least 3 or 4x higher than the mountain we are used to boarding down. Plus, we'd never had our goggles or face masks and I felt like I couldn't see as well with them. All that and the fact that I get a little nervous every new chance I get to snowboard...it was scary as hell!!!!
It took me a little bit to get the hang of things and get my barings, as this mountain had already intimidated the hell outta me. Once we got going though, we were doing really well--better than ever! I was going for loong long runs without even falling. It was a verrry long, winding run and I was more sore than I'd ever been in my life (and more DEHYDRATED!!!) by the time we got to the bottom.
It was well worth it though and I felt like I'd really conquered that bitch! That night we go to this wonderful french restaurant called La Forge. They direct us to the upstairs, which is apparently the fancy sit-down part. It was amazing! Apparently there exists a litchi liquor!!! So I had the litchi martini, Nathan had this other delicious one with the litchi liquor in it. He ordered rabbit and I got the pheasant. It was sooo yum! Both of them!
After dinner we were planning on going out for drinks, but it was sooo cold and we were tired from the day of snowboarding that we just ended up going back to the hotel. At this point, everything is about to change, forever.
Nathan takes me back to our room and it seems he has something he needs to talk to me about. Immediately I'm worried but he assures me it's nothing bad haha. I sit down on the bed, with him next to me, and after a nice conversation (or more like me listening) he pulls out the little black box.
He proposed!!! Nathan and I are now engaged! We're so unbelievable ecstatic! I don't even have much more to tell about the vacation other than the fact that Nathan is now a badass snowboarder and I am well on my way as well! This whole "engagement thing" was kinda the highlight of the vacation.
So with that being said....if you even got to this point in the entry....I'm engaged to the most wonderful man in the world. I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with him, my fiancé...soon to be "husband." Wow............
