Some parade monsters were nice; multi-color-backlit ice-sculpures were nice; people wearing blinky necklaces, glasses, and swords were nice. But far nicer were big fuzzy snowflakes and soggy-dark boston streets. Creatures peeking out of BostonPublicLibrary's windows were somewhere in-between.
Anime is strange but good; amature modern dance is strange and not so good. Organs are meant for Bach, not for popular songs accompanied by a brass band and timpani. Bach is meant for huge stone churches with lots of empty darkness, not for well-lit, brightly painted, cushy-seeated houses: king's chapel in camridge beats king's chapel in boston.
It's a pity we missed fireworks on the boston common, and some of the earlier childisher stuff; next year, i should wake up before 2pm.
Framingham was quiet and snowy at midnight; cointreau and silence seem righter to me than champagne and crowds. I'm all for winter and fairy-tails, but grand celebrations aren't my cup of tea.
Happy New Year!
