Slave Markets Style Checking Systems !

That's what I ask.
The latest TSA search procedures --- pat-downs, or images of being stripped to the skin --- kind of vaguely remind me of things I read a long, long time ago about the way people being sold were checked out at slave markets by buyers. The scanner thingy would be the hightech equivalent of the grope checks.
But the things that tick in my mind are - who's buying ? Who's selling ? And what is/are the merchandise on offer ?
