OOC: 真宮寺 さくら

May 04, 2009 18:16

Name: Sakura Shinguji
Namesake: Cherry blossom
Fandom: Sakura Taisen
Place of Origin: Sendai, Miyagi, Japan
Age: 19
Birthday: July 28
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Bisexual. Sakura Taisen is a pretty big franchise, which includes a series of video games. The games are a dating sim where the main character (a man) can pick any of the girls as his "best girl." However, there are things throughout the franchise (anime, manga, games and musicals) that hint to yuri for all of the girls. It should also be noted that the franchise was inspired by the Takarazuka Revue, which is an all female acting troupe with a mostly female audience. The Takarazuka is sort of known for its lesbian overtones. Basically, I didn't feel right deciding her sexuality as 100% straight or as 100% lesbian. I thought bisexual was safer and probably closer to the games/anime/manga, even if the yuri was all fanservice.
Talents: Tachi - Hokushin Itto Ryu Kenjutsu
Koubu Color: Pink
Koubu Weapon: Tachi
Uniform: Pink and white
Team: Imperial Assault Force (Tokyo, Japan)

Appearance: Sakura has the classic girl-next-door charm to her looks. She has long black hair, which is often pulled back into a ponytail with a large red ribbon. She’s short, only 5’1”, and a rather thin girl, only weighing 97 pounds. She has large brown eyes and, despite being a country girl, she has rather fair skin.

She prefers to wear more feminine clothing, sticking to skirts and dresses over pants or shorts most of the time. She is usually found wearing pinks and pastel colors, keeping a summery look for her wardrobe. She will, however, branch out and wear other things. It’s just very unlikely to see her in anything but soft and light colors.

Personality: Coming straight from the country life, Sakura is a bit naïve to the ways of the world. At first glance, she appears to be an ordinary and friendly, albeit clumsy, country yokel. In fact, her clumsy nature has been known to get her into quite a few pickles, and she’s had a few issues with bad first impressions because of it. However, she makes up for it with her open and warm personality. Though she may appear to be nothing special, she has a lot of talent and strength hidden away inside of her. Sakura has had her fair share of struggles with her confidence levels; her confidence steadily grows as time wears on.

She has a strong sense of honor, always determined to do what is right and to help those in need. Sakura feels that it is her personal duty to be a protector to those who need it most, working to be a voice to those she believes need to be heard. As a caring soul, she’s often there when you need her. If you’re sick or down and out, Sakura will be there to lend a hand. She can’t help but reach out to people, wanting to brighten their day. She’s always prepared to make a friend or two, and is a rather energetic girl. She can’t stand the sight of suffering or sadness, which is why she always feels like it is her duty to cheer up everyone around her.

She’s very self-motivated in everything she does. She always wants to do her best, hating the idea of disappointing others. It is because of this that she picks up on things fairly quickly, pushing herself to train hard in everything and give the best she can give. Despite the fact she may look like she’s a weakling, she is actually a very strong woman, mentally, emotionally and even physically. Her physical strength may not manifest itself in weight lifting contests, but it is clear she can withstand a lot of physical demands.

History: Sakura was born in the rural parts of Sendai, Japan, which explains why she isn't extremely comfortable with city life. She is the daughter of the late Kazuma Shinguji, a renowned hero in the Imperial Capital Defense Program, and she is the heir to the Shinguji family's spiritual power. It was thanks to her father's dedication to the organization and great skill that Sakura was summoned to Tokyo to become part of Japan's Imperial Assault Force.

During her childhood, Sakura was practically glued to her father's side, as they both adored one another. Her childhood was a relatively happy one when her father was still alive. It is because of him that Sakura has such a strong sense of honor. He taught his daughter strong morals and values throughout her childhood.

Unfortunately, her father met an untimely end. When Sakura was still a young girl, Kazuma was killed in a demon attack as he attempted to defend the capital. Since his death, Sakura has tried to preserve his memory as best she can. She strives to be something he could be proud of. He is one of her biggest inspirations when trying to reach her goals. He is also the reason she is so dedicated to the Imperial Assault Force. Before his passing, Sakura had promised her father that she would defend the capital to the death. When she first arrives in Tokyo, she quickly proves she has much to improve, but she also proves she has the will-power and dedication to become a great warrior and actress.
