Summery: Jason is the Robin that DOESN'T flail.
Flailing seems to be one of those Robin things that Jason just never got the hang of. He might have raged and stormed around as Robin, but he never ever “flailed”.
Dick does, and given some of the old footage Jason’s gotten his hands on, there was a lot of flailing involved in his daily activities, as a matter of course. How the guy had the energy for all that shit, he will never know. And it's not like the first Robin has grown out of it or anything.
Then there is Tim. Jason likes Tim; the kid is nice, as well as pragmatic, so they tend to get along-even if they don't exactly agree on a lot of shit. The fact that Tim spends so much time up in his head, makes his flailing rather amusing, since it comes off as a wee bit random, even though it's not. It's only happened once in Jason's presence, and that was because he'd gotten his hand on a beta release consumer testing copy for the new Triskelion computer game. When the kid had finally stopped jumping around and flapping his arms, he'd started gushing about the graphics it was supposed to have. It was a display that Jason teased the kid about mercilessly, but honestly, it was kind of awesome to see someone so excited over one of his gifts.
Then there is Damian. It's so fucking easy to make the Spore flail. It's almost too easy, and thus lacking the crucial sporting element. Still, it’s fun just the same, mostly because it results in the kid trying to kill him and then Jason can justifiably beat his self-important little ass.
Right now, the kid is doing his best to knee-cap Jason for daring to laugh at his school project: a crane constructed out of Popsicle sticks with a little working winch. It was perfect in every detail. So when Jason commented that it was “passable,” the kid naturally exploded and it was on.
Of course, while the Spore is flailing he's not really thinking. He can get by with instinct guiding that highly-trained (if miniscule) body, but Jason's got his own training, and kicking the kid in the ass as he barrelled by was just way to tempting.
All in all, flailing is a good thing, as far as Jason is concerned. After all, having another advantage never hurts.
