Technical Help Needed For Fic

Hey guys :) So I'm trying to get my ass back in gear and write part three of ABC. But I've hit a stumbling block. I need to computer knowledge/lingo to explain why things are going to happen a given way. Some understanding of hacking would help too. But I'd be happy with anything that sounds plausible.

Anyone want to help me out?
