Behavioural Study: Jason w/ Tim

In chatting with people in the first behavioural study post, I released that I’m viewing much of Jason’s behaviour as adolescent and inappropriate.  The example I used was a elementary school boy hitting the little girl he likes because he doesn’t know how to express his feelings.  Now originally I thought of this in the context of Under The Hood ( Read more... )

Ah, all interesting points!

One thing that strikes me as a possibility is that Jay might be afraid that his own life is meaningless and/or looked down upon in the context of both the Bat clan and the superhero community at large. He was replaced, he has no statue at Titans Tower (despite having been a Titan), and for the most part NO ONE has seemed to be glad to see him alive. He feels alienated from everything and everyone, when all he ever wanted was to matter. Given his instability, I wouldn't be surprised if, in some twisted way, his attack on Tim was an attempt to both reach out and lash out. In a way, he's starved for both attention and love, and the only way he knows how to get either is to act out in negative ways.

Poor Jay. O_O

You defiantly have something there. That need for validation/attention, the feeling of alienation, was covered VERY nicely in batman #650.

And this of course feeds back into what I was saying about his reactions being inappropriate because he's not sure how to voice his feelings.
