NaNoWriMo - Week One.

Oct 31, 2008 20:06

31st October

20:30. In less four hours, NaNoWriMo will have officially started. Time to get started on a plot, I suppose. Ideas are there, just no plot. No title. No name for my main character. No idea how it's even going to begin. It's like a big sea of fog, and I'm sitting right in the middle. (Hmm.. should I use that line for an opening?)
Oh well, time to wait for my night creativity to hit.

1st November

14:19. This has not been a good start. About five hundred words before 1am, then getting fed up and abandoning it to go and read for a while. Got up late next morning wondering whether to start over again.. haven't so far. 1184 words of nothingness right now, and I have no idea how to continue. Bah! BAH! There's still time to start over.. I need a plot!!

17:22 I've started again. Whole new plot.

21:50. Not too long ago, I passed the minimum quota today, 1693 words, and decided to leave it at that. I have a better plot that I am relatively satisfied with, have introduced a couple of characters by name.. Cailean the writer, Rae his outgoing friend, and a more minor character, Kade, Rae's brother. I learned that outside of the story, I couldn't form proper English sentences, and learned that shepard is not in fact written shepard, but shepherd. Since I spent most the day writing 1184 words which I abandoned, then coming up with new ideas and writing my minimum for that, I'll call it a day and hope tomorrow brings more success.

2nd November

21:16.  With a better feeling than yesterday, I sat down this morning - or well, it was closer to midday - opened my document and continued to write. Reach 5000 today, maybe? The goal I always set myself on 2nd November, and the goal I have never managed so far. Didn't manage it today either, as predicted. Still, a couple of hundred over the minimum, with a total of 3606 words. It took most of the day aswell, I seem to be writing painfully slowly this year. Either my concentration is failing me, or I've turned into a snail overnight. Probably the latter. But oh, I got some painting in aswell today, so I suppose all is good. Now what have I learned today? That my story is six pages in, and I haven't killed off anyone yet. Now there's a novelty for me!

3rd November

17:04. 5093 words, clear of today's minimum. Slow climb, again. I get stuck whenever dialogues take place. Today's writing included a fair amount of silly, spontaneous ramblings too, that got deleted soon after they were written. Great deal of distraction from sibling. For anyone interested, this is what my story is looking like so far:

Harharhar. Anyway, I may continue the story a bit later. I'll see.

“It's an empty notebook”, he concluded.
“Mr. Obvious is obvious”, Cailean answered.

21:29. Checking in for tonight with 6069 words. The story is getting somewhere now (something is "happening", oooo!), so hopefully writing will get easier. Now for a break, an episode or five of E.R., and to come up with some Morrowind mod ideas. Good day all.

4th November

22:41. I wrote less today than yesterday, but I'm still clear of the minimum at 7391 words. I've introduced a new character, a mystery man of sorts (let's not kill him off before revealing who he was this time, shall we? Like I did in 2006 already?). Also, the first death, a fish. *Moment's silence for the fish* Ok, moment over. All is well, just I need a mind breather now to figure out how to continue. A lot of dialogue today, how exhausting. I'll have to isolate Cailean tomorrow. I'm missing my scenery descriptions.

5th November

23:37. Lazy, lazy, lazy. I didn't start writing until I came back from driving class, around five in the evening. Even then I couldn't concentrate on writing, so the document sat there unmoving (unmoving?) for quite a bit. Then I went and gamed, and came back to it after dinner. My mind wasn't fully functioning today either, resulting in a couple of lovely typos and NaNosims. Couldn't think straight, obviously, since my mind was bent. Oh well. Still, determined to finish the minimum before midnight, I pushed myself and completed it. 8356 is my number for today. I leave you all with  a lovely sentence and the word of the day. Good night.

English had been his first and lonely language, he was sure of that.

6th November

0:02. Damn, I just didn't make it. 9648 words at midnight xD  I procrastinated all day, waiting until after driving class to get into writing properly. However, I was distracted. I blame the weird little suicide game, and I blame Tennisbollen for giving it to me (even though I asked for it, yes. :P) Oh well. Not too far behind, I'll even that out tomorrow, no problems. I am quite proud of writing 600 words in fifteen minutes though, that's not all bad.
Now to finish the aforementioned game.

7th November

23:48. I passed two word count minimums today XD 11687 today. That'll be all. [/short]
