Hong Kong actor Francis Ng has been charged with one count of assault for allegedly being the perpetrator on New Year's Day at a Kowloon bakery.
The 48-year-old will stand trial in Kowloon on 9 Feb. If convicted, the actor could be jailed for up to 3 years.
The brawl took place around 740pm on New Year's Day when Francis was at a bakery along Fuk Lo Tsun Road with his Singaporean wife, Wong Lai Ping, and their maid. According to witnesses, Wong entered the bakery first and got into a quarrel with a shop assistant over her sweeping. When Francis got wind of the matter, he left his car and joined his wife. A few minutes later, a 29-year-old male customer was believed to be hit on the neck and face. The man's wife called the police.
When police arrived, Francis and wife were waiting in their car. After the cops inspected the CCTV and talked to the shop's minders, they spoke to the couple. Wong complained of injuries to her back and waist, therefore she and the alleged victim were sent to hospital. Francis was kept overnight at the police station for investigations.
