Q : How would you recommend 《微微一笑很倾城 (aka Love O2O on DramaFever)》to others?
A : I will say, this is the correct way to film a youthful idol drama. The whole way is full of showing love, and not angsty at all. Full of youthful and dynamic vibes in a university setting filled with good times.
Q : Full of love for the whole drama? (Are you) not worried that the fans might be angry?
A : Haha, I did tell them before, this is just a role/character, and not to bring in my actual person into it. I believe in the chemistry between me and my fans, they will also watch the drama from a viewer’s point of view.
Q : Talk a little about your character Mao Shiba from 《从你的全世界路过》?
A : This is a character that I have not met in a long while, a character that is relatable to the audience. He is an IT guy, normally dishevelled, slobbish and obsessed with electronic products, and stays for free at his cousin’s house. He put his inspirations at the tip of his mouth but does not accomplish anything. He is very quiet but romantic and used his own methods to do many things for the girl that he likes… This character is very real, and is relatable to many people in real life.
Q : To us, the greatest challenge is not the acting, but becoming slobbish.
A : You guys, don’t be fooled by my exterior aura (serious_face.jpg). When I don’t have to meet people, I’m also a slob. But, for this character, it’s true that I didn’t cut my hair for a long period of time.
Q : How was it like working with Deng Chao and Yue Yun Peng?
A : Before acting in this movie, and hearing that I will be able to work with them, in my heart, I kept thinking that I had to grab this chance well to learn from them and improve my acting skills. After entering the team, while acting out scenes with them, even if Mao Shiba didn’t have many lines, majority of the time when talking to Chen Mo and Zhu Tou, I need to give reactions on the surface as well as my actions. I will discuss with Deng Chao and Yue Yun Peng to see which is the best way to match and they really gave me a lot of help.
But during break time, I will totally become part of the HAHAHA gang. They always come up with something funny, and because I’m not the type to join in, normally I will sit at the side and listen, and I’ll end up laughing HAHAHAHAHAHA. I probably can’t carry this idol facade anymore.
T/N : idol facade is a phrase to describe how prim and proper (?) idols are like not doing derps and stupid things.
Q : In your plans, do you have any character you want to try out?
A : Yes. Firstly, this character must be super manly, it will be good if there’s military elements in it to showcase the brotherhood. I’ve been in the army before, so I hope to show everyone that side. This will definitely give off different vibes from an idol drama.
Q : Do you feel any pressure from being loved by so many fans passionately?
A : I like this kind of pressure. It keeps me on my toes, to let myself become better and not to disappoint their love. Actually I know, fans are very fluid. They may like you today, maybe tomorrow they will like someone else. This is the truth and it’s something normal. I can’t tell anyone what to do but I can show you through my works. I’m an actor, my work is important. When I have a project on display, it will let more people see different sides of me.
Q : As for now, where do you wish that you can change for yourself?
A : I don’t have anything I think I need to change. HAHA, please don’t misunderstand, I’m not self important. I just think that if there’s a lot of people who like me for who I am now, why do I need to change? I like how I am now, and hope that I can continue using this most natural and true side of me to continue walking into the future.
Q : Do you mind if people don’t like you?
A : More or less, yes I mind. I think that it’s not a bad thing (to mind). This makes me think if there’s anywhere that I’m not doing well enough, I’m not a person that is unreasonable, but I will learn from the lessons taught.
