Due to it's similar name to Jet Li's 1982 "The Shao Lin Temple", Hong Kong director Benny Chan's movie "New Shao Lin Temple" has already garnered attention even before filming has started. Yesterday reporters found out from the investing side that the cast of "New Shao Lin Temple" has already been set, even though there's no Jet Li, but Jackie Chan and Andy Lau are heavy hitters, the male lead role is to be played by Nicholas Tse.

Yesterday night, director Benny Chan was interviewed on the phone, he said "New Shao Lin Temple" is definitely not a remake of Jet Li's "The Shao Lin Temple", the era, background and characters are all completely different. Before there were reports that Nicholas Tse will be playing a young master who didn't respect Shao Lin monks, afterwards his family is tragically wiped out by a warlord, he had no choice but to seek cover in the Shao Lin temple...in the movie Jacky Wu plays Nicholas Tse's fellow apprentice at the Shao Lin temple, he betrays his master after being tempted by the warlord, his is the leading supporting actor in the movie.

According to reports, Jackie Chan and Andy Lau have only a few scenes in the movie, you can consider them big supporting characters. There's a great possibility Jackie Chan will play Nicholas Tse's master, and Andy Lau will play the baddie warlord.
