Tee hee, thanks :D

They are a nice blast to the past. A couple of years ago, you couldn't stop me from making these. Too easy to be snarky. LOL

And, isn't it like 4 in the morning out there? Are you having a very early morning or a really late night? LOL

Ohhh...these are really cute. Particularly the first one. I have to admit the fruitcake one makes me hungry for English fruitcake, which is nothing like American fruitcake. Nom, nom, nom! :)

Why thank you! :D :D Well, I will have to take you on your word about the fruitcake. All I have had the "pleasure" of trying is American fruitcake. LOL

And your icon = ♥ ♥ ♥

Thanks, my dear. I'm going to be pulling out all my Christmas icons!

I have three childhood friends who are British. In England, wedding cakes are traditionally fruitcake. Half of the Americans at their weddings have refused to even try a piece just because of the name alone. :)

The tradition of saving the top layer of the cake for your anniversary comes from the British tradition of eating the top layer upon the birth of your first child, because the fruitcake is sooo heavily doused in liquor that it preserves really well. Not so much with American wedding cakes!

*squeeeeeeeeee* yes, English-style fruitcake (we call it Great Cake in Barbados) is so different from that...brick...that is American fruitcake. Rum makes a great preservative - people here have easily stored wedding cake for years thanks to the liquor and freezers! :P

Also have had friends get a bit tipsy on the stuff... Great for teething children (not)! XD
