This is for
onedeadbunny. These are the things I'd like to write, in varying degrees of possible success. This might just replace my old plot-bunny post on
kazaera.

Kyou Kara Maou:
Untitled Dan Hiri and Sage fic re: Dan Hiri going to Shin Makoku:
When Dan Hiri leaves Dai Shimaron, he doesn't know where to go or what to do next. However, before/during/after leaving he rescues an odd child with blond hair and black eyes who gives him some interesting advice... i.e. the Great Sage is doing all the legwork again.
- Structure: Will be two parts; one from Dan Hiri's pov and one from the Sage's where he's talking to the Shinou.
- Issues: Not sure if the Sage has dyed his hair; I'd like to say he's using some kind of illusion maryoku except that there has been no sign that kind of stuff his possible, so no. I also don't really want to write how he rescues not-Murata-yet and . Timelines... might make this AU, except I don't think so; it *says* that time runs much faster in Shin Makoku than on Earth, but there's plenty of evidence that that's only while Yuuri's there (most notably, war being 20 years ago - Yuuri being born 15 years ago). Dan Hiri would've left Dai Shimaron around... oh... 120-140 years ago? Hard to say, but something like that. So given we know of Christine and Henry LeJeune as Murata's previous incarnations, having him be in Shin Makoku 100-odd years before is doable. I'm still considering what will happen to creepy-kid-Sage afterwards; more than possible he'll die in some way in order to go onto his next incarnation.
I'm also worried that the fic will get rather unwieldy since I should probably show how Dan Hiri leaves Dai Shimaron, or at the very least how he rescues kid!Sage. Finally, I still don't know what he *actually says* to Dan Hiri in order to get him to go to Shin Makoku, since I'm pretty sure it's roundabout and not very direct. Maybe they see Cheri and he urges Dan Hiri to speak to her? That might work.
Ooh, ooh! And I have an idea about Shinou saying that finally the Wellers come to Shin Makoku, where they belong. I think he got a bit bitter about Lawrence not joining him. :)
Untitled Murata fic re: parental love:
Murata on parents and Shibuya Jennifer. Because after four thousand years of being reborn to a new set of parents every single time, he *has* to see parental love rather... oddly. I went overboard with this: the idea sort of centers around him considering parental love to be disgusting since it's sort of based on being *obliged* to love someone because of something as flimsy as a blood connection, and liking Shibuya Jennifer better than Murata Ken's parents since she *chooses* to love him as a son.
This is one of the ideas I have which try and show Murata as being really alien, not really human or Mazoku anymore in his thinking - because I think he'd have to be, after so long. I seem to remember some fic or RP thing where Murata called himself a "millenia-old spirit of wisdom", and I think that's pretty spot-on both in how he sees himself and how he sees the world.
- Issues: I'm considering whether to add in here that he's seen how flimsy parental love can be (i.e. times he was imprisoned or burned alive or something by his then-parents because he was different), but I feel that rather detracts from the central theme. Maybe a bit on how parental love is based on obligation on both sides and he never asked to be tied like that - no wait, that's a rehash of Two Suns. 'Sides, I really do want to sort of bring across that he considers it *disgusting*. Questions: I wonder if he reciprocates? (If he does, we're getting dangerously near to the Two Suns thing again) and how can I make it so that he isn't contemptuous of Shibuya Jennifer for loving Yuuri because he's her son? (Maybe some throw-away remark that that's a weakness of hers but he can forgive her for it)
Shinou wants to be in this... I wonder how I can? Well, without making it complete sappy slash?
I should mention that I do not, in fact, feel like this. It's all Murata.
The Sandman crossover:
...I have too many of these ideas, huh.
Murata and each of the Endless - I could pair it with the Methos idea except that I think some of them might be rather similar. Need to work on that. What I have so far:
Murata and Death:
"Death is an old, old friend." Sort of playing on Discworld's idea with Death and reincarnatees here ;) Death likes him because, well, she likes everyone. Also, he doesn't hate her when she comes for him again and they have nice conversations! Murata likes her for a number of reasons... she's nice to him after another horrible death, for instance. She's also one of the only people - the only person aside from Shinou - to know what he's doing and why, and she doesn't judge him for it. Also one of the only people to understand who he is and why. And it's always peaceful with her... and he *does* want to leave with her instead of returning for yet another life and Death offers him tea...
The Shinou has mentioned, once, that nothing in the world frightens him as much as those times when his Sage is dead and not-yet reborn, when his soul is in that other place beyond his reach and their contact breaks off. So the Sage feels guilty whenever he speaks with Death, because while he lingers Shinou is afraid, and so he never joins her for tea. But it's tempting.
- Issues: Not many; this is a bit confused and I need to work out when what happens, but this is pretty close to writable. Main issue at the moment is what Death thinks of the Shinou and vice versa - I know they've met once. I suspect Shinou may be... jealous of? ... Death for taking his Sage away from him, even if it's only for a short time (as Death is actually the *only* one that can come between them - hmm need to work on this) and for being able to comfort Murata when he can't, but on the other hand? He does yearn for Death and release from his suffering, so it can't be all that bad.
As for Death... well, we've heard her speak about immortal chars before, haven't we? Each at their time... although since he already *has* died once - now I'm not sure whether they've met or not! I think she might be slightly sad that he feels the need to do this to himself, but understanding. Death understands everything. And she's waiting for him.
Maan, now I want to write a *Shinou* and Death fic. NO WAIT BAD BUNNIES. O_o
Also problem-ish: Reincarnation is the norm for KKM chars, it seems? And he'd be reincarnated after, so it's not as if he can't follow Death... more that he has to keep his memories. Maybe a bit on her asking him "do you want to remember?" and him wanting to say no, but that doesn't capture the essential tragedy of it all as much. Plus, it contradicts my idea that Murata can't not-remember anymore, which is semi-contradicted by canon but not really and which I REALLY WANT TO PLAY WITH!
Murata and Destiny:
This idea I *like*. :) Plays on the idea of Murata not really thinking of himself as human anymore I had up there; that for the past X thousand years, Murata and Shinou have meddled in fate to the extent that they're basically controlling everything that goes on in Shin Makoku. And that it is far too easy to forget that they themselves are just pawns of Fate. So whenever he needs to remind himself that he is in fact mortal and fallible he follows the maze to Destiny's Garden. They don't speak, but Destiny looks at him and he realises that he, too, is just another speck in time. Or something.
- Issues: I have an idea about linking "reminding himself that he is mortal and fallible" with "this too shall pass", with the fact that there will be an end, that their machinations are for a goal and that once everything is over he can rest. Or, well, at least not remember. (Probably best if I replace "just another speck in time" by that, really.)
And I'm not sure what Shinou is doing while this is going on - on the one hand, he could not be with Murata, but that would open an whole new can of worms (albeit an interesting one! But since I already played on that idea with Death...). Maybe something like "Destiny looked at them both"... except then I'd have to figure out how Shinou would react. On the one hand, I think he's at a stage where he doesn't really want to be reminded of his own fallibility (or?) but on the other, I think he too really wants things to end.
Nothing for the others yet.
Murata and Shinou after the end:
...I tried to detail this plot bunny and wound up
writing the fic. Glad to see I still have that particular ability!
Murata and Shinou after the end, sequelish things:
Yes, I am overdoing it. Why do you ask?
Jose and reinc!Shinou
Shinou's new parents are rather worried about their sprog, whatwith all the nightmares and weird things he says and his seeming really depressed all of the time. So they take him to renowned pediatrician Dr. Rodriguez!
Story is from Jose's point of view; he recognised the symptoms and was actually hoping it was Murata. Upon seeing blond hair, he goes "oh, suppose it's psychiatric after all" until Shinou goes "Hey, I know you. My Sage told me about you." Cue OMGWTFBBQ. Jose isn't quite sure how to react to ickle Shinou and is kind of jealous, really. Shinou asks him where to find new!Murata, is rather upset he doesn't know ("He's hurting. I can feel him hurting.")
Later, Jose gets a call from *another* set of parents because of the same problem. Finds out hair and eye colour (how? Need to think on this) and deliberates, then sends reinc!Shinou the info.
I admit that this story is mostly an excuse to write seven-year-old Shinou. However, it also gives me an excuse to write Jose and Christine and Murata, and Jose and Shinou being ridiculously jealous of one another. Bits and pieces: "He had once asked Ken about the Shinou, and the boy's eyes had gone flat and cold and ancient, remote as the stars, and it is the only time Jose remembers seeing the Great Sage in his friend. The 'none of your business' could not have been clearer if Ken had hit him instead, and he thinks it might have hurt less."
"It had hurt, seeing Ken's empty expression and guarded eyes and flinches whenever he got too near. It had hurt because he didn't understand why Ken wouldn't trust him anymore, why he felt this need to put up masks between them now when they had been so close when he was Christine.
Then he had realised that Christine's smiles and stories had just been another form of mask. And that hurt even more."
or... something! Although the above sounds like Murata didn't like Jose at all... hmm, bad. :(
I also have plot bunnies of the parents going to Jose *after* the two of them have found each other, not before, and Jose being very creeped out by X-year-old Shinou and Sage duo. I'll have to decide on one of the two.
Shinou finds his Sage!
This is sort of Shinou's pov to the whole story, starting either before he's reborn or when he gets Jose's letter. Probably the latter. Shinou knows Murata's hurting and goes looking for him. :)
After the meeting
The two discuss Shin Makoku, what to do now, why Shinou remembers (current idea: he waited to be reborn until Murata was, and so he realised Murata hadn't forgotten) and stuff. Arthurean legends may pop up here, mostly because I adore the image of Shinou as a kind of King Arthur who'll appear to save Shin Makoku from destruction. And Murata is so Merlin... although I think Shinou suggests Guinevere. Plus, they get to argue about which of the others was which Knight of the Round Table and when Murata (I need a name for reinc!Sage) suggests Lawrence as Lancelot, Shinou goes "Why, do you have something to tell me?" or something. ;)
This would probably be definitely slash, no ambiguities! At least the King Arthur conversation (c'mon, the Lancelot thing?); the thing is that I haven't decided on how *old* the two are when they meet yet (um, somewhere between seven and twenty?). But there will definitely be cuddling. Um. Yes.
Bumping into Yuuri and co.
This is actually a separate bunny! But works well in series. Around fifteen years after the end of series, Yuuri and some friends are on holiday in London - or something - and see these two really familiar looking teenagers. Whether there is actually conversation or something remains to be seen - the original bunny just had Yuuri seeing them in the distance, laughing together. (I could also make a twist on the ending where Yuuri considers going over to them but decides not to, as they look like they wouldn't welcome the intrusion and he figures they deserve their peace. ^^)
The Harry Potter crossover
Wherein reinc!Shinou and reinc!Sage are Muggleborns and get Hogwarts letters. Just so you know, I am not writing this.
Murata on his deathbed
Yeah; Murata, dying and surrounded by friends and family. I know someone realises he actually wants to die, but I'm not sure if it's Yozak or Yuuri or Conrad or Jose or possibly Shori. :/
Um I think that's it. For now.
Murata's first death by burning
Er, yeah. Idea here is Murata being burned to death for the first time (given how he talked in ep 33, it sounds as if it happened more than once... and if he could *never* keep his mouth shut as a child, it's actually believable).
Murata is terrified, pretty much. Shinou sort of tries to reassure him but he can't say that it won't be so bad or it will be all right or anything of the sort because that'll be a lie and they both know it. Murata asks him to stay with him and he does.
- Issues: It's mostly wording and the beginning that gets me about this one.
The other Harry Potter crossover
Wherein Neville is the Great Sage.
I think I mentioned not writing these.
Um. I think that's it for KKM for the moment.
Highlander:
The Methos and the Endless Series:
Methos and the Endless! Just as it says.
Um, I'll edit this with more when I am not braindead, k?
Saiyuki:
30_gens themes:
3.) Calendar Day
4.) House of Mirrors
Weird Tenpou stuff? Ooor I could steal "Monsters" from the Mirrors arc.
6.) Sick day
What happens when Hakkai gets sick? MASS CHAOS, THAT'S WHAT. Gojyo cooking breakfast!
7.) Childhood
Well, I could use Gonou. But I am very tempted to go for "child" Hakkai in that he's only had his name for a few days.
8.) Deus Ex Machina
I suppose his randomly inventing chi abilities can get rather odd. Or learning to lockpick from mail catalogues.
9.) Old friends
Ohhhh dear. I don't think I'm firm enough on characterisation to tackle a real "old friend", i.e. from Gonou's time - I have no idea how Hakkai'd react, really.
Tempted to do something evil to Banri, somehow... or just any old person from their old village.
10.) Sweet Sixteen
Goku's sixteenth birthday which Hakkai has randomly decided on. With bonus cake, Goku having to learn about blowing out candles before eating the cake, very grumpy Sanzo and Gojyo somewhere in the background. But mostly Hakkai and Goku cuteness.
11.) Family
AHAHAHAHAHAHA.
No really.
I am very tempted to use my Hakkai and Kanan as science experiments of Nii's idea here. Buuut that one has a separate ficbunny.
So, Kanan. Although come to think of it I've been doing very well writing about Hakkai and not Gonou so far. I guess I could try for ikkou mush, but I think that'd be too much mush for me. Hakkai musing on how he has no family anymore? And it wouldn't actually be incest now whatwith the youkai thing? Has potential. Hmm. Maybe if I don't make the ikkou-family thing too obvious, just Gojyo coming to get him when he's too brooded in.
12.) The jungle
EH.
Distinct lack of jungles they travel through? Hmmm.
Maybe their first jungle and reactions. Honestly now, not sure how to tie this in to Hakkai.
13.) War and peace
Hakkai has War and Peace. Hakkai wants to be read. The rest of the ikkou will not leave him in peace. Hakkai makes it rather clear that there will be war if he isn't (note to self - look up good quotes from War and Peace for this). He is then left in peace.
14.) Education
More Hakkai and Goku schoolteachery stuff? But then again, I claimed Hakkai, not Hakkai+Goku. I'm tempted to write Hakkai trying to figure out chi abilities and how not to break things or go deaf and stuff. I just suspect it'd turn into complete fluffy cuteness. Ah well.
15.) Secrets
I can see this one already - Hakkai with the people in the village, quite accepted. Random gossip about Hyakugan Maoh or something like that. Hakkai smiling and nodding and not saying anything.
16.) Code of honour
...
Ah. Um.
Let me get back to you on this?
17.) Habits
I'm brain-dead at the moment but there are WONDERFUL things that can be done with this, I'm sure.
18.) Literature
Haven't I done something already with War and Peace?
Possibly a digression on why Hakkai likeses his books. Must think of something better than escapism.
Either that or the lockpicking by mail-order.
19.) Time spent apart
Hakkai is separated from ikkou and goes slowly crazy? I can so see someone keeping them apart and Hakkai KILLING THEM ALL. Because there is thus far a distinct lack of Hakkai flipping out and killing everyone here.
Either that or pre-series; Hakkai really is happiest when they go visit Sanzo and Goku, even if he usually has to pry Gojyo and Goku apart.
20.) Regrets
AHAHAHAHAHA It's HAKKAI.
Although he really doesn't have many actual REGRETS. Maybe some stuff on what he does regret (buying that meat from the market; he should have known it wasn't quite good anymore and Gojyo spent all night vomiting...) but, y'know? I think that if he were in that situation again, he'd do exactly the same thing.
Well.
Maybe stay out of the splash radius.
21.) Eye colour
I can see something about Hakkai's fake eye going here. How the colour isn't quite right although it is.
22.) Argument
Insert another AHAHAHA IT'S HAKKAI here.
Polite argument with Sanzo about which is the proper way to go. Very polite. Can hardly be called an argument. There is not feeling of impending doom. Can't imagine why Sanzo backed down.
23.) One-way street
First I was going metaphysical.
Then I thought - the poor traffic cop that tries to give the ikkou a ticket. That HAS to be written.
24.) Vitamins
...I see Hakkai chasing the rest of the ikkou with vitamin pills ("Exercise isn't everything! You need proper nutrition!") and it's ALL YOUR FAULT.
25.) Spectacle
Spectacle as in glasses or spectacle as in giant show thing? I might just combine the two. How Hakkai's hunt for his monocle leads to a spectacle. Or something.
26.) Drifting
Hakkai and drifting don't go together too well. I get the impression he likes having a purpose. Might make something out of that.
27.) Mimic/Imitation
Hakkai has also never been the type to mimic people. Maybe someone could try to mimic him (copycat ikkou?) I imagine he'd have a nice conversation with them over a cup of tea and they'd then FLEE.
But I really shouldn't interpret it so literally.
28.) Legend (or 'myth', or 'fable')
First thing that springs to mind is 'blood of a thousand youkai', and the ikkou arguing about whether it counts as a myth when it's been proven/can be proven correct quite easily ("Hakkai, that's not EASILY" "Why not?")
29.) Ocean
...
Well, if they reach the ocean there's definitely something strange going on there. They're heading for north India, ergo west.
West.
No, Hakkai. That is not "Oops".
30.) Thirty ways to say a single 'farewell'
KANAN STUFF. :D
And as a bonus:
31.) Pets
Jeep isn't a pet! He's a friend! Really!
Insert random reinc stuff.
32.) Hero
AHAHAHAHA Hakkai as a hero. I mean, most people see the ikkou as one (either that or as target). But.
33.) Money
Either Sanzo's gold card or them scrounging before the journey. Or both.
34.) Flesh wound
Can I rip off Monty Python for this one?
Or chi healing stuff.
35.) Cleaning up
Yey for neatfreak Hakkai? Scenes from home, the journey and the battlefield. I can sort of see Hakkai tidying up the corpses so they look nice. :P
The untitled Tenpou-and-Hakkai fic
I have this entirely plotted out in my notebook somewhere. I even have all the dialogue written. The first half is already done. This cannot be so hard.
There's some other Saiyuki stuff... but unless I swing back to Saiyuki fandomwise, I don't think I'll manage it.
Baldur's Gate/DnD
The Novel
What more needs to be said?
The Parody of DOOOOOM
because, well, yes. I ♥ my parody of doom. It makes fun of long lost heirs plots, complete with Good Peasant, abusive adopted families, mysterious/unknown origin plots, half-breed plots ESPECIALLY with "interesting" heritages, Incredible Beauties (esp. with unusual hair and eye colour), omgdramatic sibling stuff (a la complete love or Cinderella, runaways, fantasy teenagers, chars who whine about OMG how abused they are ANGST, immense magical powers, stereotypical appearances (i.e. "sinister-looking", "beady-eyed", etc.), Evil Villains, minions...
in the first chapter. ^_^
