Yes, I am highly sorry about that. After all my fussing about getting the tags exactly right so I wouldn't break any rules by accident, too XD

lol, it is fine.

Great story! I love how it is from Arthur's POV. You have such a great Arthur voice that makes it so enjoyable a and it a great insight into how he thinks.

The whole thing is, of course, entirely Merlin's fault.

and of course comparing Merlin to a frighten Kitten. I can see Arthur doing that and thinking about how Hunith taught Merlin to hide and control. It actually reminded me of Smallville.

Good story!

Eeh, thank you! :D I was worried about the voice, so that makes me really happy.

And I was really surprised in Ep 1x10 when we learned that Merlin hasn't been hiding his magic just since he came to Camelot but for his whole *life*. It left me pretty convinced that that had to have had a pretty big impact on him, even if it's not immediately obvious.

I love this so much! ^^ I am a bit confused over the cuffs thing, and while I can understand that Merlin wouldn't want to use magic at the time, because he didn't (perhaps) want to keep reminding Arthur he could do magic, to the point of disgusting Arthur (or this is how I see it). But the bandits clearly said that the cuffs made Merlin useless. So which is it?

I really enjoyed Arthur's perspective here. I think you did a great job with it. Especially the part when Arthur discovers that Merlin is afraid of being scorned for his magic...you wrote this really well: Arthur's hurt and the thoughts on Hunith. Even the banter of "bracelets not cuffs" was wonderful. The repetition of Arthur's thoughts as he gained on all this new information about Merlin's ability was really well thought out ("Merlin is an idiot" "It was Merlin's fault.") It really supported the story. Wonderful job with this. I enjoyed it.

Oops, that may not have come across well - the "what, you could use magic the whole time?!" was regarding the bit at the beginning with the glowing shackles. Once the bracelets went on, Merlin was entirely useless, but there was a period of time before that where he could have done something. I might need to see if I can edit that to make it clearer.

And thank you! :D I was worried Arthur was getting OOC - I haven't watched that many eps, so I have trouble hearing his voice, and I was really worried the bit at the end would seem too insightful - so I'm glad you thought it worked!

I am just now discovering this show and its associated fanfic, but I just wanted to mention that I think this is one of the best "Arthur finds out" stories I've come across! You have absolutely NAILED his character, in so many ways (Merlin shouldn't have to tell him he's a sorcerer/ horse throws a shoe comparison is perfect) ("Oh, well, that's that then" response to the revelation, and his realization that this should be more monumentous than that), ("Look at him") - all great insights into a crown prince's psyche, and exactly the way I think it should go down in the series! Well done!

Oh, I really enjoyed this!

"Don't cry, you idiot," he tells Merlin because that is really the last thing they need at the moment.

"You're such a prat," Merlin responds, voice cracking, and in that moment Arthur knows that they're going to be all right.

Aw, that was such a good ending. ♥

Thank you!

The fic kept going on and on and on and then I went "okay guys, I know you are going to hug and make up. After that it will be THE END, understood?" because I really wanted to finish it. Glad you thought it worked :)

ARTHUR HUGGED MERLIN *insert flaily arms of joy here* YAAYYY! He's almost, you know, being Sensitive or something!! Loved this fic!
Arthur finding out about Merlin's magic are special to me, so another YAAYY! And you mentioned a sequal maybe eventually, so I think you just made my evening :-)

I think Arthur being sensitive at the end is outweighed by the fact that he left Merlin to panic about execution for several hourse myself, but... yeah, he has his moments. *g*

I love Arthur-finds-out fic myself, and kept going "ooh, I'd like to see a fic that did this. And this. And this." and logically wound up writing one myself. I don't know for sure about the sequel, but I do have a vague idea of how it would go. ...and the other idea on my plate is the Merlin/Hetalia crossover, which would not quite be the weirdest crossover I ever wrote but definitely be up there.

Loved it! I think you really nailed Merlin's emotional response there, that he would be terrified of being found out, regardless of how much he trusted Arthur.

Thanks :) I was worried it wouldn't seem believable because Merlin is a bit careless about his magic at times in the series, but he *is* deeply afraid of Arthur finding out in a way that I don't think has all that much to do with Arthur himself at all.
