Hm.

After deciding not to post the entry I was going to post here, I've realized that I don't really feel comfortable expressing my thoughts on LJ these days. That's strange, because I used to be very free about it, but I'm a little tired of friends-locking all the time, or using custom groups to avoid giving offense or to avoid talking about things ( Read more... )

I've take hiatus-i (??) from online posting, diaryland, but still. =) I'm sorry you feel unable to truly express yourself. We're fortunate enough to live in a place and era where it is getting easier to do so all the time. Perhaps you could create another lj, or use your old d-land one as a place to put thoughts you're not sure you want to share. I think it's sad that you feel moved to lock posts. People who read this are either already your friend or a curious passer-by. Friends may disagree, but we control our emotions. If someone doesn't like something they read, they can react, but it is still their issue. I'm just starting to learn this lesson now. Besides, if someone gets that upset over your personal opinion, then they need to rethink the meaning of friendship. If people are pissy and not someone you know, who cares? A lot of times, we write replies to provide another view or an answer. In any case, we are trying to communicate. Most arguments are so frustrating becuase both parties are trying to reach common ground and nothing seems to be working.
What I think I'm trying to say is: don't quit. Love yourself enough to show us who you are; to communicate in your voice.
- S x S forever! (Despite their horrible communication skills) ;)

:P I don't friends-lock things to shut out non-LJ pals like you and Genevieve (I tried to think of how I could include you guys when I first started friends-locking, but ended up unable to), but because I don't have internet at home and often have to post on public computers. :)

And I should have clarified before... this isn't something that anyone provoked, but just a feeling on my part that I can't really explain. It's not that I want to avoid arguments- I love arguing- but that I worry that a statement of mine may ruin someone's good mood. So I end up censoring a lot of the things I say, which is usually fine, but these days I'd just rather email or phone my friends to talk rather than say everything I think to everyone at one time. :) That'll probably change in the future, but for now it's just how I feel.

Dland will continue to be a very free-feeling place for me. :) It always has been. :) And thanks for the thoughts... S/S is a very good example of what not to do in terms of communication, and thus very relevant to the comment. ;) OH! Speaking of S/S... if I ever go to Otakon again, you know what we should do? You and I should be the Sumeragi twins and John should be Sei-chan. ;) Wouldn't that be lovely? :)

That would be sooooooooooooo cool!!!!!!! =) You have her bubbly personality down flat! And we'll John is damn sexy, and my thinking he is ;) it would work well.

- now to see if I can con him into. This is gonna be a challenge.
He's near impossible to fool.

Just like a certain, Armani-clad assassin.

It was awesome seeing you at the wedding!! Wheeeeeeee!!

And I totally understand what you mean ... I haven't written about any of my sincerest feelings in epochs. I guess there's a time and a place for stuff, and cyberspace just ain't it all the time. Anyhoo, hope you are doing well! Drop me a line sometime :)

Yeah, I think I'm just getting less exhibitionist as I get older... or maybe I don't feel as close with the people on LJ as I did when I first started it, so I don't want to be as open. Hm. Anyway, it was totally great seeing you too, and I'll definitely write soon! :)
