Uh-oh. There you go again, talking cinematic.

He watched. He looked closer. He was amazed.

Yuto watched Ryosuke through the LED screen and he was amazed at how Ryosuke could act so amazingly, so convincingly. It seems like Ryosuke could convince anyone of anything. Even when Ryosuke would convict a murder and try to lie to the police, he’d probably be let go by acting all innocent.

The older-yet shorter-member’s words were said with feelings. His expressions seemed so real. He was gifted with unbelievable acting skills. All Yuto could do was watch in awe at how Ryosuke delivered his lines.

That’s how amazing Ryosuke’s acting was.

Yeah, you. You’re charming. You got everybody starstruck.

After their taping, as usual, Yuto would walk home with Ryosuke. As they walked past the streets of Tokyo, billboards and magazine stands had the faces of Hey! Say! JUMP in them. Yuto noticed the latest April issue of Duet and he remembered how Ryosuke had a solo interview on almost the last part of the magazine.

Most magazines had interviews of Ryosuke.

Most dramas starred Ryosuke.

Everyone asked for Ryosuke.

And Yuto?

He stood at the sidelines, sometimes, watching Ryosuke rise with fame. He was happy for the older boy. He really was. After all, he’s pretty popular, too.

I know how you always seem to go for the obvious, instead of me.

But get a ticket and you’ll see.

There’s something Yuto couldn’t tell Ryosuke. They tell each other everything, but Yuto couldn’t tell Ryosuke this, of all things.

He liked Ryosuke.

He liked Ryosuke so much.

But that’s a problem.

Why?

If we were a movie, you’d be the right guy.

And I’d be the best friend that you’d fall in love with in the end.

Because Yuto’s life was like a movie.

There were a lot of struggles, obstacles, he had to go through. Everyone’s life was like that, and Yuto’s couldn’t be more different.

Naturally at some point, there would be two people that become best friends. One couldn’t help but fall for the other.

Why?

Because in a best friend, you’d see a great person, someone who understands you and knows you inside and out. Someone who’s always there for you.

We’d be laughing, watching the sunset.

Fade to black.

Show the names.

Play that happy song.

But just like movies, there must be a plot twist. There always is. They never get tired of it. The movie goes so well then-BAM!-something has to go on and ruin it for the viewers.

That’s how it always goes.

When you call me, I could hear it in your voice.

Ryosuke called Yuto one night while the latter was browsing his English book.

“Ne, Yuto,” Ryosuke started. “Let’s meet up tomorrow. We have no shooting anyway, right?”

“Uh…Yeah,” Yuto replied. “Yeah sure.”

“Great!” Ryosuke said happily. “I’ll meet you at park, okay? 10AM. Same place.”

“Un.” Then Yuto hung up and sighed.

Oh sure, you wanna see me and tell me all about her [him].

“Yuto!” Ryosuke called out when he saw the familiar tall figure approaching.

Yuto sighed before putting on an artificial smile. Here it goes.

“Where do you want to eat later?” Ryosuke asked, cheerfully.

“Anywhere would be fine,” Yuto answered, trying to sound as enthusiastic as the other boy.

He sat down next to Ryosuke on the bench. “So Yama-chan, what’s up?”

“Before anything!” Ryosuke suddenly said; it made Yuto lean back in surprise. “I need to tell you something!”

Uh-huuuh. “What is it?”

“You know how Chii could do backflips and stuff, right? And how I used to do it, too?”

Yuto felt his lip twitch. “Yes. Why?”

“Do you think he’d teach me how to do it again?” Ryosuke asked.

Yuto noticed Ryosuke’s eyes and this time, Yuto’s left eye twitched a little. “Yeah. Why wouldn’t he?” Can we get out of this topic now?

La La. I’d be acting through my tears.

“He is really nice,” Ryosuke added with a smile.

Stab.

“So, let’s go get breakfast. You haven’t eaten yet, have you?” Ryosuke asked.

“Not so much. I’m a little hungry, anyway.” Yuto tried his best to smile, trying to prevent his tears from showing.

“Let’s go!” The shorter boy grabbed Yuto’s hand and started dragging him to some place that sells food who-knows-where.

“Yama-chan, where are you taking me?”

“You’ll see.”

A smile was formed on Ryosuke’s lips.

Guess you’ll never know that I should win an Oscar for this scene I’m in.

Ryosuke was leading in front of Yuto as he continued to drag the latter to some random café Yuto has never went before. All the way, Ryosuke would constantly talk about Chinen--then Takaki-and some more Chinen. And then ‘Yuuri’.

How amazing Chinen’s acrobatic skills are, how nice is voice was. How cute he was. Screw him, Yuto thought irritated already.

But Ryosuke was his best friend. And he thinks his best friend likes JUMP’s number one smallest, spoiled, sharp-tongued member. Damn squirrel. He couldn’t-wouldn’t-do anything about it.

Yuto could feel the tears prickling again. Luckily, Ryosuke wasn’t looking back at him as he continued to pull Yuto by the hand. Yuto breathed in and tried not to cry. He pulled it off with smiling his genuine toothy smile once in a while.

After all, Ryosuke wasn’t the only one who could act.

If we were a movie, you’d be the right guy.

And I’d be the best friend that you’d fall in love with in the end.

We’d be laughing, watching the sunset.

Then Ryosuke abruptly stopped in front of a small café. Yuto almost fell forward with the force of the sudden stop but caught his balance.

“This is it!”

Ryosuke led Yuto into the café, still holding the latter’s hand. Yuto noticed that the café was really homey and kind of cozy.

Ryosuke pulled Yuto to the counter. The lady behind the counter was suddenly wide-eyed as she eyed both boys. Then she just smiled, giggling inside. Why would two good-looking boys decide to hang-out here of all places?

“Good morning,” the lady greeted with a bright smile.

“Ah. I’ll have…” Ryosuke started, and then glanced at Yuto. “...what he’s having.”

“Eh?! But I’ve never even been here!”

“Still…I’ll have what you’re having,” Ryosuke urged with a smile.

Yuto looked up at the menu above the counter. “I’ll have…” Yuto hesitated and looked down at Ryosuke. The other boy merely nodded and smiled. Yuto sighed and continued, “I’ll have the waffles, please. And warm milk.”

The lady nodded and typed in something on the cash register, then turned to Ryosuke. “I’ll have what he’s having!” Ryosuke said happily. Yuto’s cheeks turned a bit pink, but he guessed Ryosuke was just in one of those conditions where he started to act hyperactive all of a sudden.

The counter-lady smiled. “I’ll have it brought to your table.”

”Thank you,” Yuto said, taking out his wallet.

“Thanks!” Ryosuke said as he handed the lady the money and dragged Yuto to a table near the window. “Let’s sit here!”

Yuto awkwardly sat down across from Ryosuke. The older boy didn’t stop smiling and Yuto wondered why, but didn’t ask. “You didn’t have to pay for me, you know.”

“But I wanted to!”

Yuto smiled and mumbled a small, “Thanks.”

Ryosuke just smiled wider.

Wish I could tell you there’s a twist, some kind of hero in disguise.

When we’re together it’s for real, no playing.

“Here you go,” the same lady from the counter said as she brought them their food. “Thanks,” both boys said as she placed it in front of them.

When the lady finally went back to the counter, Yuto looked around the café. That’s when he noticed the café was full of…couples?

“Y-Yama-chan,” he began. “Why are there-“

He was cut off when Ryosuke spoke. “Yuto, I need to tell you something.”

“Eh?”

“I can’t take it! Everything I planned never seemed to work and I just can’t take it anymore! I’ll tell you straight out!”

“Explain?”

“I like you.”

“Eh?!”

“I said,” Ryosuke repeated irritatedly. “I like you.”

“. . . “

“It’s fine if you don’t like me back. I just wanted you to know. I don’t just like you because you’re my best friend. I like you in that way.” Ryosuke pointed to one of the couples across the room. The couple was chatting, laughing, holding hands above the table, and oh-so in love.

Yuto tried not to stammer. “When you said ‘everything you planned’, what did you mean by that?”

“I kept talking about Chii to get you jealous. I even called him ‘Yuuri’! Then, I tried talking about Takaki. None of those seemed to work. You even looked happy! People kept pairing us up, the ideal best friends. They liked shooting pictures of us together, putting us together, pairing us up together. Most of the time, it wasn’t just acting, but I did like you…a lot. But I never, did once, thought that I would feel something more. But I did! So I resorted to bringing you to this café, just to that I could elaborate what I wanted-and tried-to say for so long!”

Yuto was speechless. Ryosuke sighed and placed the fork with a piece of waffle in his mouth. “Yummy~”

“. . . . .”

“Yuto, don’t you want to eat?”

“…I like you.”

Ryosuke smiled. “Its okay, Yuto. You don’t have to force yourself to say it. I know you do. We are best friends, ne? Now eat your waffles before I get to it first.”

“No, really. I like you,” Yuto repeated. “I like you in that way.” Yuto pointed out another couple to explain further.

Ryosuke’s eyes widened in surprise, and then smiled. “Here,” Ryosuke lifted his fork to Yuto’s lips. “Say ‘aaah’.”

Yuto blushed a little, but opened his mouth to bite the piece of waffle, nonetheless. “This is tasy!” Ryosuke smiled. “What’d I tell you?”

Wish I could tell you there’s a kiss, like something more than in my mind.

I see it could be amazing.

The bell on the door of the café clanged as the two boys made their way out. “Let’s go back to the park. It’s still early anyway,” Ryosuke suggested.

“Un.” Yuto nodded. He felt Ryosuke’s hand entwining with his.

When they got to their usual spot, he noticed Ryosuke walking on. “Yama-chan, where are we going now?”

“Just follow me.”

Ryosuke dragged him further into the park, the tall trees towering above them. Then they stopped in a small circle, tree still surrounding it.

It was a small gazebo.

Ryosuke continued to drag Yuto up the small staircase and into the small hut. “I always go here when I want to lighten up. I only found out about this recently, and no one really goes here. It’s really peaceful and no one will disturb us.”

“Yama-chan, I-“

Yuto was cut off when he felt Ryosuke’s soft lips on his. He tensed a bit, but eased into the kiss after a while.

If we were a movie, you’d be the right guy.

And I’d be the best friend that you’d fall in love with in the end.

We’d be laughing, watching the sunset.

“I love you,” Ryosuke told Yuto after breaking the kiss.

“I love you more than you could ever imagine.”

If we were a movie, you’d be the right guy.

And I’d be the best friend that you’d fall in love with in the end.

When it was getting darker, Ryosuke and Yuto went back to the main park. People were starting to pack up and leave. They sat down on one of the benches. It had the beautiful view of the sky.

We’d be laughing, watching the sunset.

It was twilight.

The yellow, white and blue of the beautiful day turned to the nostalgic set of red, orange and purple that late afternoon.

“It’s so pretty,” Yuto said.

“Yeah,” Ryosuke said, leaning his head on Yuto’s shoulder, not really caring who sees them. “It is.”

Fade to black.

They watched as the sun set, and the park lights started to light up. Fireflies flew out from the trees, and some bikers-a boy and a girl-were riding side by side out of the park. The different color of the fountain lights also turned on. The cool breeze caressed their skin. The night was peaceful. The stars started to shine down on them. Soon, the moon came out and did the same.

Ryosuke lifted his head up from Yuto’s shoulder and looked up at the taller boy that sat beside him. “Let’s go home.”

“Un.” Again, they entwined their hands together, stood up, and went out of the park gates.

That day was just like a movie, both boys thought. The movie went well. Tomorrow will be just like another.

They wouldn't worry so much anymore. After all…

…most movies end with happy endings.

Play that happy song.
