Chapter 1:
All I Want for Chrtistmas is You ♥Chapter 2:
Christmas Day ♥ Waiting.
It seems like that's all he could do for now. Wait. He didn't have much to do now. He felt alone. Maybe because he, literally, was. The house was big...and empty. He sat on the couch in his room that he recently arranged to face the window. The snow was slowly falling down, covering the streets. Snow was landing on top of the roofs, on top of the people, animals...everything. He observed the kids across his house throwing snowballs at each other. The dad was up a ladder, putting up white Christmas lights by their front porch. Then something caught his eye. He looked lower. A young couple was walking happily by the streets, holding hands, cherishing the moment they were together. They just had done some shopping, judging by the bags they were carrying.
He was alone. No one was in the house with him. His mother took his younger brother out for some Christmas shopping. His dad was at work. Yuto did his Christmas shopping two weeks ago...with Ryosuke.
"Hm," Yuto shrugged as he pulled up his knees and wrapped his arms around them. It's cold. He continued to look outside. He didn't want to ruin Ryosuke's Christmas. Ryosuke probably wants to spend some time with his family, too. Everyone wants to spend time with their families this Christmas, right? Yuto could wait, probably.
"Waiting for you to come home," he thought. "And it's hard 'cause I feel so alone...and I just want you to come home."
The doorbell rang. This time of year, his dad would still be at work, while his mom took his brother out shopping. He usually does his shopping earlier than the rest of them. He doesnt really like making his way into crowds and crowds of people in different shops. He doesn't like having the feeling of being like sardines, all squished together in a small can.
"Hai!" he called out when the doorbell rang again. When he finally opened the door, a happy smiling, familiar face greeted him. Yuto couldn't help but smile himself.
"Ready to go?" Ryosuke asked as he stood at the doorway, still smiling.
"Un," Yuto nodded excitedly. He put on his shoes, grabbed the house keys on the table beside the door and proceeded to go out. He locked the door, and closed it behind him.
"So," Ryosuke began. "How are you today, Yuto?"
"I'm good, as usual!" Yuto replied enthusiastically. Ryosuke couldn't help but laugh. Yuto laughed with him before adding, "What about Yama-chan?"
"I'm good, too, ne," Ryosuke answered cheerfully. "I'm always happy being with you." Ryosuke blushed as he said this.
Yuto blushed, too. "I'm always happy being with Yama-chan, too."
Ryosuke looked up at the taller boy and smiled. Yuto smiled back.
"Hai, ikou ne!" Yuto said as he grabbed Ryosuke's hand and quickened his pace.
Ryosuke just smiled as he tried to keep up with Yuto's pace, tightening his hand around Yuto's.
They arrived at the park, walking along through the thick snow-covered trees. They walked past decorated and lighted pine-cone trees on one side of the park. They held each other's hand as they journeyed through the different parts of the park. The snow was thick on the grass, and slippery on some parts on the cement. A path with trees on both sides had red and green ribbons wrapped around them, connecting the trees consecutively before reaching an opening which leads to a small gazebo hut at the end. Since no one usually stays there--the people would rather stay at the gazebos with many people around--they liked staying there.
Some parts of the seats were covered in snow, so Yuto dusted it off with a mittened hand so Ryosuke could sit down. He dusted off the spot next to it, too, so he could sit beside Ryosuke. The smaller boy rested his head on Yuto's shoulder. The taller boy wrapped his arm around Ryosuke's shoulder.
"You're warm," Ryosuke told Yuto, matter-of-factly.
"So are you," Yuto replied, grinning.
Ryosuke smiled and continued reveling in the warmth of Yuto. Yuto, too, reveled in Ryosuke's warmth. They enjoyed this feeling. It felt like nothing could go wrong, their problems didn't matter. It felt like they were the only people in the world, and no one else mattered but each other. It felt like no one could ruin this moment. If they could, they would stay like this forever. Just the two of them. Together.
"Yuto."
"Hm?"
"I love you."
Yuto tightened his arm around Ryosuke.
"I love you, too."
Yuto sighs. It hasn't been long and he misses Ryosuke already. Cold. "You're not here to keep me safe and warm," Yuto thought to himself. He stood up, approached his bed, and let himself crash down on the comfort of his soft mattress. He hugged his pillow and stared at the ceiling. "Lose all troubles, because after all," he though once more. "it's Christmas time."
The doorbell rang. It couldn't be his mom or dad, it's too early. Yuto shut his eyes. He wasn't in the mood to see anyone else right now. He tried ignoring the doorbell ringing in his ears. "Maybe if I just ignore it, whoever it is might go away," Yuto thought. It was silent for a minute, the ringing stopped. Yuto slowly opened his eyes. Then there it was again--the doorbell. "This guy's persistent." Yuto groaned and slowly got up from his bed.
"Hai, hai!" he called out as he skipped down the stairs and towards the door. Opening the door he started, "What do you wa--" but was cut off when he saw the person with a huge smile in front of him.
"Y-Yama-chan?!" Yuto managed, shocked.
"Surprise!" Ryosuke said, still smiling.
"What are you doing here?" Yuto asked, still stunned.
"Eh? It's seems like you're not too happy to see me." Ryosuke pouted. Yuto was about to say something when Ryosuke cut him off. "Yeah, I know, 'It's not that', right?" Then he laughed. "I begged my parents for me to stay back. My sisters decided to go." There was a short pause before Ryosuke started again. "Well, aren't you going to invite me in? It's cold, you know."
"Ah, gomen," Yuto apologized, snapping out of it. He opened the door wider so Ryosuke could enter. Ryosuke shook the excess snow off first before entering Yuto's house. Yuto closed the door behind Ryosuke. "I can't believe you'd skip the trip to Okinawa."
Ryosuke removed his coat, and hanged it on the coat cabinet near the door, just like he always does when visiting Yuto's house and he's wearing a coat. "LIke I said," Ryosuke began, sitting on the couch. "I prefer being with Yuto more than anyone, or anything, else." Yuto sat down on the couch next to Ryosuke. After a short moment of silence, Ryosuke said, "It's snowing."
Yuto gave a small laugh. "It's not Christmas if the snow don't fall."
Ryosuke laughed, too. "Yeah, I guess you're right." Then he noticed something on the ceiling and looked up. Ryosuke stared at the ceiling for a long time.
"Eh? Yama-chan, what is it?" Yuto asked, slowly looking up the ceiling, too. Once he saw what caught Ryosuke's attention, he looked down at the older boy again and said, "Oh, my mom probably put it the--"
Yuto was cut off when he felt Ryosuke's lips on his. His eyes widened in surprise. When Ryosuke finally broke the kiss, Yuto was just staring at him questioningly. He simply answered Yuto's unsaid question by smiling innocently and simply saying, "Christmas tradition."
"Eh?" Yuto was dazed.
"Mistletoe."
"Oh!" Yuto got it. "Why would my mom put a mistletoe above the couch?"
"For her and your dad," Ryosuke answered, grinning.
"What? Yech! Don't say thing like that!" Yuto blurted out in disgust. Ryosuke laughed, and eventually, Yuto laughed with him.
"It's Christmas time again," Ryosuke told Yuto, as he leaned back on the couch.
"Un," the taller boy nodded with a smile.
"I love you."
"I know," Yuto grinned. He looked back at Ryosuke who was leaning back on the couch.
"I love you, too."
