Last night I learned something interesting. In an old Irish tradition, leap year was the only time when it was acceptable for a woman to propose marriage to a man. If he were to refuse her on February 29th in particular, he would owe her a token (clothing, money, jewels, etc). This was known as the "Bachelor's Day" tradition. My European History teacher thought this topical information was relevant in the spirit of the holiday and subsequently forgot about our homework assignment for the weekend entirely.
Along that vein, it seems everyone has "checked out." The weather is nice and it is Friday, so I can empathize.
