Excuse me? I'm very badly burnt...

It happens at the beginning of every summer. The weather gets warmer, I want to start wearing skirts and dresses, I want to go to the beach and do other outdoorsy things. So I go to the beach or something, and I decide that I'll lay out in the sun and try to get a tan. Too bad I'm practically an albino and do not tan, which I should have learned sometime in the past 20 years. Now I am red and in pain and dehydrated and I have to write a stupid essay and tonight basically sucks.

It's a good thing today was so gorgeous to make up for it. My mom turned 50 today, so we went to the beach. My dad and I practiced guitar (I learned "Smoke on the Water" aka easiest song ever). The three of us collected rocks and shells for the stepping stones my mom wants to make for the backyard. My brother, although hungover (surprisingly enough, usually it's me), moved a mile a minute as usual while I sat back and soaked up the surroundings (and too much sun). We had some delicious champagne. And then, at a lookout point by this lighthouse, we saw two gray whales with their babies, which was inspiring. So, all in all a good day.

Besides the predictable but as always unforseen sunburn.
