My Fair Lady
I watched all of My Fair Lady tonight for the first time. Parts of it were funny, and I love Audrey of course, but it was so... misogynistic.
I couldn't stand Rex Harrison. "Why can't a woman be more like a man?" Seriously? And no one was offended by that song? I certainly was.
I can't believe she ended up with him. I guess you can't spend happily ever after with Cary Grant or Humphrey Bogart every time, but really. How can that be one of the greatest musicals of all time? It didn't even seem like they were falling in love, he never treated her right, and then suddenly they're all "happily ever after." I kept hoping she'd leave him and marry Freddie instead. At least he loved her.
