I would usually be getting ready for Southern Exposure right now, but due to a death in the family, I am unable to go.
Caryl Reynolds
Bradenton, Florida -Caryl Reynolds, formerly of Granville, N.Y., died Friday, Sept 8th, 2006 at the Manatee Springs Care and Rehab in Bradenton after a long illness. She was born in Spier Falls, N.Y, the 4th child of George and Ella (Taylor) Fifield on October 24, 1913.
She grew up on Mechanicville and graduated from Mechanicville High School. She also was a graduate of the former Oneonta Normal School in 1935. After teaching two years at a one room school in the Halfmoon area, she married Donald R. Reynolds on June 24, 1937, at the Mechanicville Presbyterian Church. They were happily married for 56 years until his death in 1993.
They lived in Granville, N Y, for 35 years where they raised their beloved children. She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star and the Penial Presbyterian Church. She and her two sisters joined the Daughters of the American Revolution together. She loved her yellow cats and working in her flower gardens.
She was employed by Washington County Department of Social Services as a case worker and senior case worker for 20 years retiring on 11, 1, 1975.
In Bradenton, they lived in Golf Lake Estates for many years and were members of the Palma Sola Presbyterian Church
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister Muriel Lyons of Lake George Village, Bradenton and Mechanicville and her brother Kenneth Fifield of Lake Saint Catherine, Vt.
She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Sodher and her husband Herbert of Saratoga Springs and Elizabeth Reed and her husband Gary of Bradenton. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Diane Sodher, Kristen Sodher, Michael Reed, Caryl Cousins and Sabrina Anderson, and by five great grandchildren, three nephews, one niece, and by her sister Beulah Major of Port Charlotte, Fl.
A memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian N.E. Congregational Church at 24 Circular St, Saratoga Springs, N.Y., 10 A.M. Saturday, 9/30/2006.
Burial will be at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Guilderland after the service.
