I don't know when the last time was that I had a free weekend. Ever since April started, I haven't really felt the joy of Fridays anymore. On the upside, I've got a lot of comp-time waiting for me to take them. On the further downside, I think I broke out again from the stress. Not to mention my vision's been getting a little blurrier than normal and I sleep like a log everytime I hit the bed.

I won't have another completely work-free weekend for another.. 4 weeks. and even then, I just get one weekend before I have yet another fun work-filled weekend. And I mean filled.

I do love my job though, and the people I meet continue to inspire me- From the cousin of Sara Ruehling, a gorgeous 6-year old girl with Leukemia who is bravely fighting her disease while she waits for a match, to people who have never known the pains of a loved one with Leukemia or a life threatening blood disease, but still continue to fight so passionately for them. And then of course, you get the political stem-cell controversy kooks who are so proud of their involvement in getting prop 71 passed that want to do nothing more than to brag about how they were responsible for legalizing stem cell therapy research.

If one thing has come out of the three months I've been actively working as an Outreach Coordinator, it's a lifelong dedication to a cause. And although I've been lucky enough not to know someone or to have, myself, a life threatening disease, I still feel the desperate need to fight for those who have or may have them in the future. And now I have a clear-cut mission to accomplish when I move back to the Philippines - set up a Philippine National Bone Marrow Donor Registry. Because it's a shame we don't have one already when India has 3, China, several, and so many other countries too.
