You know I’m really depressed when a video game (one I’ve been dying to play) gets a North American release date, and I can barely bring myself to smile. Not to say I’m unhappy to hear that Steins;Gate’s PS3 & Vita ports finally have a NA release date (
August 25)-I’m thrilled! :D But with everything that’s been going on in my life lately it’s really crippled my giddiness.
It’s all bad personal timing on my behalf. In no way does my depression have anything to do with the ever-awesome Steins;Gate, or PQube that’s saintly enough to actually publish such a visual novel/niche game overseas (any niche localizer gets big thumbs up from me).
Although, I am usually reluctant to celebrate until it’s absolutely confirmed if a game will be released physically and/or digitally. All the websites I’ve checked confirm Steins;Gate’s NA date itself, but nobody seems to commit (yet) to whether the game will be released physically and digitally, or one over the other (unless I’m overlooking something, which is entirely possible^^). There is a
special limited edition version of the game being sold exclusively on Rice Digital’s website, but my focus is usually on standard retail copies (bonus content is fun but not mandatory for me). Rice Digital offers standard editions, yes, but will those standard editions of Steins;Gate also be available in retail stores like BestBuy or GameStop (not that I relish giving GS more money, but I’d bite the bullet if it meant getting my hands on a copy of Steins;Gate)? Since the release date’s announcement was only just made-Amazon.com doesn’t even have the NA edition as of this entry-I’ll give it a little time for specifics to be ironed out. Then either I’ll celebrate the game’s physical/retail release, or bemoan yet another online/digital-only title.
All in all, today is a wonderful day for Steins;Gate lovers in the States! My special thanks again to PQube for localizing this game in the first place. :) If this game becomes available in stores, you can bet I’ll be slapping my name on a pre-order pronto.
In other news…well, writing this entry kinda made me feel a little better about things…at least Steins;Gate is something to look forward to in the future. Yeeeah, that’s how things have been going for me lately; the biggest excitement/pick-me-up I’ve got on the horizon is a video game, one I may or may not be able to play anyway, depending on its physical/digital release. -_- Gack, I’m starting to depress myself again. Okay, starting now I’m mustering positive vibes that: 1.) Steins;Gate will be available in retail stores, 2.) My job (and life) will eventually settle down, and 3.) I will stop hating the ever-loving hell outta myself. Simply one out of three possibilities would make my day right now. *sniff*
