Fanfiction Progress: May 2015

May 22, 2015 13:50

Little along the lines of actual “progress” to report this month, unless you count umpteen random ideas floating around inside my chaotic head. @_@

The next FFnet publication of mine will be (drum roll) #50, and while I don’t want to make a ridiculous deal out of it, I do want my fiftieth story to be somewhat special, if not commemorative. Ideally, I’d like the story to be for Pokemon. Even though I debuted on FFnet with both Pokemon and Xenosaga stories, Pokemon was the franchise that initially got me interested in fanfiction in the first place, long before I joined FFnet. Even long before I played Xenosaga. So you can thank/blame Ash and friends for me joining/corrupting the wonderful world of fanfiction. Haha. ;)

Though a little side note, though Pokemon was the first fandom to pique my curiosity into fanfiction, it was Xenosaga that actually encouraged me to finally stop being anonymous and actually join the online FFnet community. Random FYI. Those are just some of the reasons why Poke/Xeno are so dear to me. Nearing fifty fanfics makes me nostalgic.

Funny thing is, many of the story ideas I’ve had lately are on the angsty/depressing side, and yet I feel more in the mood for writing something on the lighter side. The muse wants to go one way, whilst I go the other. I’ve been itching to write some cute, fluffy, silly, Ash-is-so-ding-dang-dong-adorable-I-can’t-stand-it story, yet every idea I’ve had eventually withers into angst. Not that such is a bad thing, per se, but I’m craving cuteness right now. Aargh! @_@ But that’s me, ever at war with my writing muse.

And for those curious as to the status of my infamous Kuroshitsuji lemon, all’s going according to schedule. I’ve reached the stage in the writing process where I absolutely hate the story with a passion that makes me almost press the delete button. No worries; I undergo this exact same self-loathing-my-stories process all the time, to the point where I expect/accept it as part of my overall process. First comes love, then comes hate, and then the cycle repeats itself (no wonder I’m so attracted to writing about love-hate relationships!). But in seriousness, the story still has many revisions to be done-namely, I just find the actual story telling confusing/muddled at the moment.

But maybe the upcoming Memorial Day weekend will get my muse in shape. I’m planning on just taking it easy and giving myself some much-needed R&R. And looking forward to it! :D Enjoy the holiday, everyone!
