It figures; the first official day of autumn and I caught a cold. :( Fortunately, it wasn't a long-winded thing. I was sick as a dog over the weekend (I have my suspicions that my "cold" might have been more than that, but whatever it was it went away. Phew!). But I'm feeling better this week. I spent most of my weekend in bed, and I feel so gross right now; stuffy nose, sore throat, not to mention the fact that I feel sluggish from not moving from my bed for more than bathroom trips. It felt great today to get the chance to stretch my legs, breathe, and recover myself. :) Oddly, the best thing to do when you're sick is to rest, yet just laying in bed in a stuffy, germ-infested room all day doesn't exactly make you feel better, either. It's better to get fresh air, I think.
On the plus side, being bedridden lets you catch up on reading a whatnot. I finally finished playing Digital Devil Saga, awesome game, and have started on its sequel. I finished a book, too, so I kept myself busy (I can't help it. I like to keep my mind preocuppied). And I did revise/prepare Ch.3 of The Buzzards and the Bees, which is still on schedule for publication later this week. So my sickness wasn't a total game-changer. Other than my own fanfiction, I unfortunately didn't spend much time reading others' fanfiction (I'm behind on so many stories!), but now that I'm feeling better I should be able to spend more time reading, opposed to writing. The sad part with me is that usually when I'm working on my own fanfiction, I don't have much time for others' (and vice versa). Why can't there be a happy medium?
BTW, the aforementioned book I finished reading was Repeaters by Erica Ferencik. Creepy horror/romance spin on reincarnation. Very fascinating and suspenseful. :) My next reading venture will be/still is Sapphique by Catherine Fisher, which I took a momentary break from when Repeaters unexpectedly snatched my curiosity. I'm also contemplating the Rot & Ruin series, because (of course) it has zombies, but I'm not quite sure how much I'll enjoy a YA zombie story. I've grown to appreciate YA fiction as not necessarily being "kids" stuff, but still...I'm the type of zombie fan who wants the guts, gore, and the whole definitely-NOT-for-kids package. ^^ Hot damn, I'm so happy it's Halloween season!!
That's all for today. Provided my cold doesn't relapse, The Buzzards and the Bees Ch.3 is still good to go for a publication this week. :)
