The events leading up to radiohead began friday night, when lauren, pat, ben and i decided to hang out to set the dynamic for the venture. We picked up ben and went to cambier (where i ripped the ass out of my pants). Lauren and i played on the swings while pat and ben got in heated discussions regarding the Matrix- and such. Tired as all thats holy, we went back to my house just in time to watch Fairly Odd Parents (*note of clarification* that statement is valid for 90% of the day). Finally exhaustion surpassed any desire to prolong social engagements and they headed out leaving me with sweet dreams of the concert to come.
Saturday morning i woke around 9, and filled my morning with showering, and the cleaning/packing that i left myself ample time to do. The motley crew (including Lauren, Pat, Mike, Ben, and yours' truly) hit the road close to one, disregarding the minor delay resulting from lauren's acrylic nail. The car ride over is a fleeting memory, hazed by sleep and being lost in thought for the majority. I love long car rides, and the escape from naples was long overdue.
Upon arrival in West Palm i was simply mesmerized by the beauty of the city. Kudos to Pat for the superb hotel choice, i was beyond comfortably content. =)
Our next excursion was motivated by sheer animal instinct: food. FYI -> Jimmy John's gets the 'anne ellyse stamp of approval' if you are ever in the greater west palm area. Next stop.. The Sound Advice Amphitheater, where exactly 1 month ago the illustrious TORI AMOS graced us with her presence. To say the very least there is very good energy, and many happy memories associated with the establishment. Despite my recent travel there, the Amphitheater seemed to be the center of some labyrinth of my memory. Lauren rolled down her window at a friendly looking couple of guys stopped next to us at a red light. Before even finishing her question, the telepathic visitor for overseas responded "you're going to see radiohead right" complete with british accent. (phonetic translation: "yoohr goin' ah see rayohead righ?"). C'mon folks, you can't expect to go to a concert without meeting a FEW interesting characters. Thanks to our polo-playing pals we made it to the concert frustration free... and with plenty of time to spare. At 7:30 we listened to the sounds of "SuperGrass". Not a band i'm all too familiar with but they receive two thumbs up in my book. After muuuuuuuuuch anticipation, the renowned Radiohead took the stage. From this moment on can only be described as astounding. Everything from the music, to the lights was impeccable. Utterly Flawless. Even the reaction from the crowd was beyond comprehension, the genuine admiration was thick in the air (as was the second hand smoke). The concert came to close leaving the songs echoing in my head, and the word "Forever" streaming across my eyes. No, i wasn't on hallucingenics.. they had the word spelled out in lights.
The next hour or so we hung around the parking lot waiting for the rush of cars to dissolve. We got in the car and headed out at around 12, which meant that it was also officially Mike's 18th birthday. yay. No cake though :(
When we got back to the room we hung around, refreshed, and took part in herbal recreation. Fuuuun. The next hours were consumed by eating, south park, and crazy ramblings. After we smoked more, the gang minus lauren (who was beyond passed out) decided to head to the beach, which was conveniently within walking distance. The beach was Amazing. I can't even begin to let my brain comprehend it. The colors, the sounds, the texture. Twas enchanting m'dears. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
After we safely returned to our home-away-from-home (at roughly 4:00 in the AM) we had every intention of rejuvenating ourselves, but sleep took precedence, and the next thing i remember is 8:30 the next morning.
The magic from the weekend was disappearing at a rapid pace as we neared naples. This is evidenced by Pat's $276 speeding ticket, and the physical breakdown of his car. And the overwhelming apathy found me again at approx. 7:20 this morning. At least weekends like this give me something to look back on with a smile, and something to give me hope that there is still life in this world.. just outside of this black-hole.
well i think that this post compensates for my three week lapse. Fare Thee Well m'dears.
