“What’s with you?” Heechul asked.

Taeyeon was leaned back on the front door her eyes closed. She was thinking about what just happened. The kiss. It was very confusing and it scared her.

“Nothing,” Taeyeon said at once, smiling forcefully, avoiding her brother’s eyes.

Heechul narrowed his eyes suspiciously at her then went up to his room. Taeyeon sighed and leaned back on the door again. What was she going to do? Kyuhyun kissed her! And, although she hadn’t been kissed before, she felt like she just had the best kiss of her life.

Suddenly, the front door opened and Taeyeon flew forward.

“OMG are you okay?” Sunny immediately asked, rushing over to her.

“Fine,” Taeyeon said, standing up in a daze.

“What’d you do today, Taeng?” Sungmin asked casually.

“Uh, just stuff,” Taeyeon vaguely answered. “I’m going upstairs.” She hurried up to her room.

Sunny turned to Sungmin. “I had fun tonight,” she said, grinning.

“I always have fun with you,” Sungmin responded, grinning as well. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

“I’ll miss you,” she responded.

“I’ll miss you more,” he replied.

“Enough, you two! Sungmin, go home!” Heechul yelled.

“Good night,” Sungmin quickly said and immediately left.

Sunny went upstairs to her room and changed clothes then she decided to go to Taeyeon’s room. She was already in bed.

“Hey,” Sunny quietly said, climbing onto the bed with her. “I have to tell you something.”

“Me first,” Taeyeon suddenly said.

“What?” Sunny asked curiously.

Taeyeon didn’t say anything for a couple of seconds. “He kissed me.”

“Who?” Sunny asked, sitting up and looking at her.

“Kyuhyun,” Taeyeon answered softly.

“What?!” Sunny asked. She pulled Taeyeon and made her sit up. “He kissed you?! When? How did it happen?”

Taeyeon shrugged. “It just did.”

Sunny watched her sister carefully. Taeyeon was usually skeptical about boyfriends and relationships. “Well, how do you feel about it?”

“I don’t know,” Taeyeon admitted. “I was so surprised and… confused.”

“So you liked it,” Sunny concluded.

“Liked what?” Taeyeon asked, looking at her.

“The kiss,” Sunny said. Taeyeon didn’t say anything. “Otherwise, you wouldn’t be confused.” She peered at her sister. “Are you falling in love with him?”

Taeyeon bit her lip.

“Taeyeon?” Sunny pressed.

“I don’t know,” Taeyeon answered confusedly.

“How long has this been going on?” Sunny demanded, looking intently at her.

“How long has what been going on?” Taeyeon asked, avoiding her sister’s piercing gaze. She knew what this must look like. She was always so skeptical and now she was eating everything she’d said.

“This. You and Kyuhyun. I thought you guys were just friends,” Sunny persisted. It wasn’t that she didn’t like Kyuhyun for her. She kind of did. But after talking to Sungmin, she was worried.

“We are,” Taeyeon said in confusion. “I don’t know.” She looked at her sister. “I really don’t know.”

Hankyung moved through the library bookshelves quietly until he reached one of the tables at the back. Donghae looked up and knew at once that he had come for him.

“Leave,” Hankyung told the others who were seated menacingly. Without being told twice, the others scrambled to gather all their stuff and hurriedly left. He turned to Donghae, who just gave him a passive look. “I’ve been under the impression that your tutoring sessions with Jessica, who is my girlfriend, have already ended.”

“That’s right,” Donghae replied.

“I’m going to make this simple,” Hankyung went on, leaning across the table, glowering at him. “Stay away from Jessica. There’s no reason for the two of you to talk to each other anymore.”

“What are you going to do if I don’t stay away from her?” Donghae asked. “We are becoming friends.”

Hankyung smirked. “Jessica doesn’t have friends, aside from the ones she grew up with, which is me and the other kingkas and queenkas.” He paused and looked intently at him. “We’re having some problems right now. This is just her way of getting back at me. Don’t kid yourself. She’s just using you.” Hankyung patted him on the arm consolingly. “I don’t want to make life any more difficult for you. But if I see you so much as look at her again…” he warned and walked away.

“Taeyeonah, what are you going to do about Eunhyuk?” Sunny asked her urgently.

“What do you mean?” Taeyeon asked distractedly. She was wondering what she would do if she saw Kyuhyun in school by accident. They had never actually crossed paths in the campus before, which was weird when she thought about it, but what if it happened now?

“About Kyuhyun…” Sunny reminded her in a whisper.

“I don’t really understand why you’re so worried,” Taeyeon told her sister. “Eunhyuk wouldn’t find out unless you told him.” She suddenly stopped walking and gasped. “You told Sungmin, didn’t you?”

Sunny looked apologetic. “I really couldn’t lie to him, Taeng. I told him not to tell Eunhyuk. He promised.”

All of a sudden a girl rushed up to them. “Eunhyuk is in a fight!”

Taeyeon and Sunny hurried to the quad, where a large crowd was gathered. The sisters squeezed themselves through the crowd until they got to the middle.

“I’m guessing Sungmin told Eunhyuk after all,” Taeyeon muttered as Eunhyuk punched Kyuhyun.

“I’m so sorry, Taeyeon,” Sunny responded remorsefully.

“Why is no one putting a stop to this?” Taeyeon asked, looking around.

“I’ll look for Sungmin,” Sunny said, leaving her side.

When Eunhyuk threw another punch at Kyuhyun, who wasn’t bothering to defend himself, Taeyeon decided to intervene.

“Eunhyuk, stop it,” Taeyeon said, grabbing his arm. “What are you doing?” she hissed, glancing at the crowd.

“I’m just teaching this guy a lesson,” Eunhyuk told her. “No one messes with my best friend.”

“What are you talking about?” Taeyeon asked him, glancing at Kyuhyun.

“Taeyeon,” Kyuhyun began.

“You shut up,” Eunhyuk said. “You have no right to talk to her.”

“Eunhyuk,” Taeyeon reprimanded. She looked around. “Look, let’s talk about this some place else.”

Sunny arrived with Sungmin, who avoided Taeyeon’s eyes, Tiffany and Siwon.

“Alright,” Tiffany yelled. “Show’s over! Thank you very much for your time!” She smiled sweetly as the crowd slowly dispersed. She turned to Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun. “What happened?”

“You,” Eunhyuk said, pointing at Kyuhyun, “stay away from Taeyeon.”

Taeyeon turned to Eunhyuk. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner that Kyuhyun and I were friends, but is this really necessary? This is a bit of an overreaction, even for you.”

Sungmin turned to Sunny. “You didn’t tell her?”

“I couldn’t,” Sunny said, shaking her head.

“An overreaction?” Eunhyuk said, visibly upset.

“Why are you so angry?” Taeyeon asked, starting to get annoyed. Eunhyuk merely growled.

“I think…” Tiffany suddenly intervened. “I think you should bring Kyuhyun to the clinic.”

Taeyeon then looked at Kyuhyun, whose lip was bleeding profusely. He looked tired, confused and anxious. “I’ll do that,” she muttered and left with Kyuhyun.

“Are you okay?” Taeyeon asked Kyuhyun once the bleeding had stopped. He had a bruise on his cheek and a cut on his lip. Kyuhyun nodded. “I’m sorry about Eunhyuk. I don’t know what’s gotten into him.”

“It’s fine,” Kyuhyun said. “He’s just being protective of you.”

“More like overprotective,” Taeyeon quipped, shaking her head. “Really, he’s worse than Heechul oppa. It’s not like I won’t like guys eventually. I can’t be single forever,” she babbled.

“So you’re not single anymore?” Kyuhyun asked, amused.

“I…” Taeyeon muttered, suddenly embarrassed. “I don’t know.”

Kyuhyun smiled then leaned forward, kissing her very gently, probably due to the cut on his lip, but it left Taeyeon breathless anyhow. “Now, do you know?”

Taeyeon merely nodded, unable to form a coherent thought.

Kyuhyun chuckled a little then looked at her seriously. “Would you mind skipping the rest of the afternoon? I want to spend some time with you.”

Sunny and Tiffany sat across from each other, both not talking. Sungmin had left to calm Eunhyuk down, while Siwon decided that it’s best if he didn’t involve himself in what was happening. So now it was just them.

“Thanks for helping out earlier,” Sunny told Tiffany uneasily.

“It was the least I could do.” Tiffany smiled at her. “I was thinking,” she suddenly added. “We’ve never talked before…”

“Yeah,” Sunny agreed, smiling. “Even if Eunhyuk and Sungmin are our common friends. And now Siwon…”

“What do you say we put all the awkwardness behind us and be friends?” Tiffany suggested excitedly.

“I’d like that,” Sunny agreed cheerfully. Then she sighed. “Do you think Kyuhyun will tell Taeyeon the truth?”

“I’m sure Sungmin has told you what happened, what he used to be like.” Sunny nodded. “He’s changed,” Tiffany shared. “He stopped hanging out with us all together just so he could have a clean break.”

“It’s funny,” Sunny commented. “He doesn’t look like he was ever a kingka.”

“Well, he never really hung out with us much even back then, especially in school,” Tiffany said. “That’s why not a lot of people really knew he was our friend. But really, even if he doesn’t hangout with us anymore, he still looks very much like a kingka.” She smiled fondly. Kyuhyun, despite being a jerk and a player in his past life, was still a nice person. He was nice to his friends, at least the ones he didn’t date.

“I’m worried,” Sunny said. “Taeyeon’s not going to be happy once she finds out.”

“I’m sure he didn’t mean to lie to her,” Tiffany responded. “We’ll just have to trust that he’ll tell her at the time he sees fit. That means talking to Eunhyuk about not telling Taeyeon himself.”

“That’ll be easy,” Sunny said in sarcasm.

“What happened between Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun?” Yoona asked Yuri.

Yuri shrugged. “Eunhyuk wouldn’t talk to me about it. But I think it’s because he found out that Taeyeon’s been going out with Kyuhyun,” she explained.

“And he beat Kyuhyun up? Is he jealous or something?” Jessica asked.

“Of course he’s jealous,” Yoona stated. “Didn’t I tell you this was going to happen?”

Yuri merely sighed, deciding against telling them what happened when they went to the carnival. She shrugged again and tried her best to be cheerful. “So how are you and Kibum? Are you back together?”

“Yeah, tell me about that,” Jessica prodded. “I feel like I’ve been missing out on a lot.”

“Well if you hung out with us more often instead of your geeky tutor…” Yoona quipped, rolling her eyes. Jessica merely looked back at her. “Anyway,” Yoona went on, “Kibum and I aren’t exactly back together. But he did ask me out.” She grinned.

“That’s great!” Yuri said, smiling.

“Boy, you’re not missing a beat,” Jessica said. “Didn’t you just break up with Sungmin?”

Yoona flipped her hair. “Sungmin’s wonderful, but Kibum’s the love of my life.”

“At least one of us is enjoying their love life,” Jessica agreed. “Or two of us, if you count Tiffany.” To which, Yoona made a face.

“How are you and Hankyung?” Yuri asked in concern.

Jessica sighed. “To tell you the truth, I don’t know if I care anymore. I’m just so tired of waiting for him to have time for me.”

“I’m sure he’ll make up for it,” Yuri consoled her.

“He tries to make up for it,” Jessica shared. “But, honestly, movies and dinner aren’t enough anymore.”

“Why don’t you just break up with him?” Yoona suddenly asked.

“Yoona,” Yuri scolded. “Problems aren’t solved by breaking up.”

“I’m just saying,” Yoona said, rolling her eyes. “If she’s not happy…”

“I’ve been thinking about it,” Jessica admitted. “But I don’t know. I’ve been with him for quite some time. It seems foolish just to throw that all away.”

Yoona shrugged. “It’s your funeral.”

“Where’s Taeyeon?” Eunhyuk demanded when classes had ended. They were on their way to the parking lot.

“I haven’t seen her,” Sungmin said.

They both looked at Sunny, who wasn’t saying anything and was just looking straight ahead.

“Sunny bunny, do you know where Taeyeon is?” Sungmin asked sweetly.

Sunny ignored him. She knew that if she looked at him, she would have no choice but to tell him where Taeyeon was.

“Ya Sunny!” Eunhyuk prodded. “Where’s Taeyeon?”

“I don’t know,” Sunny lied. “I haven’t seen her either.”

“I’ll call her,” Eunhyuk said, bringing out his phone.

“Would it kill you to leave her alone?” Sunny asked, stopping him.

“Sunny,” Sungmin scolded.

“I’m just saying,” Sunny went on. “It’s her life after all.”

“He’s lying to her,” Eunhyuk pointed out. “You, of all people, should be protecting her from him.”

“But she’s happy,” Sunny shot back. She sighed. “I don’t want to be the one to take that away from her. And neither should you.”

“She would never know the truth, unless we tell her,” Eunhyuk said after a moment.

“Well we don’t really know that,” Sungmin countered gently.

“So, what, we’re just going to allow him to lie to her face?” Eunhyuk quipped.

“Of course not,” Sunny said, shaking her head. “All I’m saying is we should give Kyuhyun some time to be the one to tell her himself. He should be the one to tell her. That way he’ll see the consequences of his actions at once.”

“It’s so nice here,” Taeyeon said, looking around and leaning on the wooden bridge railing, overlooking a beautiful view. Kyuhyun had brought her to an exclusive, secluded resort.

“I come here when I want to clear my head,” Kyuhyun said, walking up behind her and wrapping his arms around her.

“Uh right,” Taeyeon said, suddenly lightheaded. Being in this close of a proximity to Kyuhyun turned her brain to goo.

Kyuhyun released her, sensing that she didn’t like him hugging her. “Sorry,” he apologized. “I made you uncomfortable.”

“No, you didn’t,” Taeyeon said, shaking her head. He looked at her pointedly and she sighed. “It’s just… I can’t think straight when you do things like that.”

He chuckled. “Really?” he asked in amusement. “That’s interesting.”

“You don’t have to rub it in,” she muttered, looking down. She was sure her face was red.

He touched her chin and lifted up her face. “I won’t do anything you don’t want me to. I know that you’re very apprehensive about relationships. I want to tell you that I’ll take care of you.” He slowly reached down and held her hand.

She looked down and smiled at him. She then looked out at the view. “So why did you want to come here now? We have lots of other days to go here.”

“I wanted to go now because there are some things that I want to tell you,” he said, looking intently at her.

“Me first,” she suddenly said, squeezing his hand and facing him completely. “I want you to know that, even if I’m not good at this kind of stuff - actually, I don’t know anything about having a boyfriend… I want you to know that I’m going to do my best to be perfect for you, to be the kind of girlfriend that you deserve.” She stopped when she realized what she just said. “Oh my god, I’ve turned sappy. Is this what happens when you get into a relationship?”

Kyuhyun laughed and hugged her, resting his face on the crook of her neck. “You don’t have to try to be perfect coz you already are.”

Taeyeon pushed him away. “If you keep saying those kinds of things, we’re going to turn into one of those mushy couples that I hate. We might turn into Sungmin and Sunny.” She shuddered visibly.

“Alright alright, no more mushiness,” he said, raising his hands in surrender. “Unless necessary.”

“When is it going to be necessary?” she asked, wrinkling her nose.

“Trust me, it will be,” he assured her.

Taeyeon shrugged. She leaned against the railing once more then glanced at him. “So what did you want to tell me?”

Kyuhyun was quiet for a moment. “I just wanted to say that I’m happy when I’m with you and that, no matter what happens, I’ll always be just yours.”

Taeyeon looked at him in surprise. That was a big promise.

“Was that too mushy?” he asked her.

She smiled. “A bit,” she said. “But I think it was necessary.”
